The bug is fairly rare in my experience anyway, probably happened to me once or twice in a zillion hours of play...
but dude there's about 40 v1.6 bugs or regressions that were fixed but are now back I've documented so far, everything from your ricochet line getting stuck on permanently even when driving, to mission objectives being unreachable, cars and people being embedded in the ground or falling though the terrain... and on and on... and it's quite amazing but the solution to almost all of them? Just die. Drive your car right over some cops let them blow you up, and respawn.
NO NOT RELOAD, take the death. Reloading will just make the auto-fire thing stick again.
It's kind of funny that dying "resets" these things, because were it multiplayer we'd die all the time, but that it's single player people get annoyed when they die and reload before they flatline, and the bug persists.
Please us know if just dying resets this too, both of you.
As mentioned, for me I have only ever had this bug twice - I reloaded at the time which fixed it for me. If it pops up again I will try the respawn trick
