Militech Canto?
This post might contain spoilers for Phantom Liberty, so… I guess you’ve been warned? Myself as well, since the furthest I’ve gotten into the DLC so far is Birds with Broken Wings, and I just got it too, so Reed hasn’t called yet. I’d like to avoid spoilers if possible.

I like to play as more of a netrunner, it’s just more fun for me, so I’ve been looking things up to see how to have even more fun, and saw the Militech Canto Mk.6. Problem is, I have zero clue how to get it.

I see things about Somewhat Damaged, then see the prerequisite Jobs (Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos, and Firestarter) but see on the wiki that BSITHOC is… dependent? I’m not too keen on spoilers, as previously stated, but know of one REALLY big one and I don’t know if this is when it comes in or not: betraying Reed or Songbird.

My main concern is the choices I have to make to actually *get* BSITHOC, as well as how to actually obtain the spec for the Canto. I already know… something about a “Cerberus' decoded behavioral system component,” whatever that is, and I’m not sure how to get that, either, so despite how much I hate spoilers, I’d ironically appreciate just a bit (specifically the choices I have to make beforehand) in order to get this cyberdeck.

Many thanks in advance.

if you want Canto or Erebus, you have to side with Reed.
there is a different item you can get if you side with Songbird.

you will have a chance to get the crafting spec for the Canto deck if you side with Reed and keep going through the story. just make sure you save before you go into anywhere that looks... dangerous. (trying to not be spoilery lol)
and when i say save, i mean manual save. not quicksave. that way you should be able to go back if you can't find the crafting spec you want.

you still can. just in another pathway.
that is why people make saves just before that choice. so they can do both on the same V

you can use mods.

CET has a command line so you could find the id for the Canto deck and give it to yourself.

there is a 'new game+ native' mod that would maybe let you do a Reed-side run, then keep the deck maybe (not sure. you can carry over some things but i don't know if that is one you can keep)

there are also lots of mods on nexus that have 'blackwall' as part of their name... tho i don't know if they are just using the visual, or the actual tech side.

since this is your first playthrough (at least of the expansion) i'd say make your save before, choose which side you really want, then go back and play the other afterwards.
(usefull if you are not happy with how things went, and don't mind turning the clock back)

after that you could try mods for things like that (it's good to do a vanilla run first, or to watch someone else do a vanilla run lol. thats what i did, watched a ps4-pro vanilla the first week the base game dropped. best birthday ever ^^)
