Netrunner
Hi guys, if you want to track me down while quickhacking, i.e. an opposing netrunner starts looking for me with the progress bar, is it always difficult to tell who the netrunner is or am I missing something? Is there no skill anymore that resets the search, other than the one with the takedown?

From what I've experienced, as soon as you use any hack that doesn't say "untraceable", the trace starts. Even if you take out the enemy in a single sneak-attack or first strike, it keeps going. Even if you have the perk that says "reduce trace 100% on take-down" doesn't stop the trace, it just resets it back to zero and it starts climbing back up again.

The only two ways I've found to stop the trace is to either run away (about 500-ish feet or so) from where you were when you hacked the enemy, or you have to neutralize every enemy in that group. Say if you come up to a trio of thugs on the street, you have to take down all three of them. A dozen goons around a compound for a gig? Have to take down all of them before that trace runs out. Or you just keep running away after every hack like a very apologetic hit-man with short-term memory loss.

I've been hoping for someone to tell me of some legendary-level hack with some passive bonus to trace evasion -just so I have a goal and know it can be done- but I've yet to see anything. My stealth-netrunner build was ruined by the last update, and I'm convinced now that you either go stealth, or netrunner, but not both. Best it can do now is distracting enemies to sneak up and give them the hug-of-doom. :'(

There are decks that help it if you take down somone. There is a perk that enables you to upload quickhacks to the attacking netrunner. On top of it they normaly need so long to find you you killed them and their whole squad 10 times already.

"Counter-a-Hack" perk is what you want specifically if you're worried about an actual enemy netrunner. In a lot of cases, there actually isn't, in which you really should be relying on untraceable hacks or alternately preceding them with T3 (or above, but T3 is fine for this and T4 / T5 cost more RAM) Sonic Shock.

T3 Sonic Shock is enough to cut the target off from comms, so you can then use a normally-traceable hack like Short Circuit and drop them without a trace.

Self-ICE cyberware still exists, but you have better uses for your limited head cyberware slots.

Ah, at T3 is it better, thanks for that tip.

Just use sonic blast first, that will block communication to others. My main attack is Sonic Blast + Overheat.
