No idea why CDPR felt the need to do this...
I've never seen an armor recipe.
Armor can only equip equal or lesser tier mods. This is dumb, because armor mods automatically tier up with crafting skill and lower tiers can no longer be built.
It's a problem. When I realized this I made a bunch of lower-level mods...I also salvage them from older garments for re-use. I can only do that because I've got 16+ points in Tech however.
Less of an issue now that the wardrobe system exists. You are given some legendary clothing schematics for leveling crafting, most of them look terrible but they do have legendary rarity to support the mods you can craft. And the looks can be fixed with the wardrobe. If I remember correctly the schematics unlock at or below the crafting level that makes your mods legendary.
If you only care about the way your V looks, the wardrobe setup is fine. If I want to change the actual clothing pieces...the wardrobe system is useless.
I like to assemble various clothing sets with specific qualities... percent damage against medium/high enemies; bonus against very high enemies; quickhack cooldown speed; stamina boost in melee, etc.
