It just adds the crafting recipes for crafting components using 10(before cost reduction perks) components of the previous tier to your crafting menu, so you would need 10^4 common components to craft 1 legendary component if you aren't using any exploits (6^4 in my case). It only seems to add recipes for the crafting components, NOT the upgrade components, so you'll have to get those via shopping/scrapping/looting. Also, I think you need the rare/epic/legendary crafting perks to craft the higher tier mats as well, haven't tested that.

There's also another perk for 10% chance of free upgrade and another that adds 10% and 10%. You should be able to essentially get it down to 3 from 6. I'll test that later when I have the 3 more perk points unless someone has it already and will confirm. Or maybe that's 4 and then 1/10 is free... w/e.

Tune up is just for creating higher level Components. It's not needed. I you use the current Epic Grenade method to farm Epic Components and buy epics from Gun Vendors or Junk Shops you'll be fine. You can also break down one of the Craftable Berserk Mods for Legendary Components for fairly cheap.

Upgradin, IMO, is not worth it. Weapons to some degree but upgrading Armor just obliterates your Components. It's keeps adding the base cost, 2, becomes 4, becomes, 6, becomes, 8. Fine for that but when your green components are 12, 24, 36, 48...I can't even upgrade a single white piece of armor to 500 because of the cost. I have a pair of legendary pants that are maybe level 100....there is no way I can take them to 500.

yes I won't upgrade things too far, only 1 -3 lvls.

Don't want to use exploits, buying mats was the best thing so far, as long as I don't have to pay for the legendary ones
