SCAN AND TAG ENEMIES

I AM IN THE SCAN AND TAG ENEMIES TUTORIAL
was asked to press TAB and click middle mouse button to tag enemies but instead the game auto tag the enemy the moment i aim at them and pressing the middle mouse button has no effect. conclusion: stuck in tutorial and cannot do anything. did the developer even tested this!!!!!

Ok, worked it out via keyboard (controller aspect still eludes me). Press and hold TAB, then mouse middle click on each enemy. If done correctly, each enemy will turn from Yellow to sparkly Red.

it is still not working, my mouse middle button has been working on other games
and i reconfirm that it is configured as middle button, i am using logitech MX Ergo TrackBall
same problem. press TAB, once i aim at an enemy, the scanning prompt appeared and the enemy turned red already. so middle button become redundant and tutorial cannot progress
i will reload back earlier and try it again

sorry, a slight mistake, aimed at enemy and a scanning prompt message activates
but enemy is still yellow, this time, they did not turn red, but unfortunately, mouse middle button is not working still. so cannot continue tutorial

ok, this time for sure, restart my pc, put in another mouse razer ouroboros, also go to a online mouse test website https://www.onlinemictest.com/middle-mouse-button-not-working/
confirmed that middle mouse button for both mouse is working
start up the game again, still middle button cannot work in the game in the tagging enemy tutorial
two branded mouse and game cannot work....

reload tutorial again, this time got the ouroboros mouse to work and tutorial can proceed
but the logitech mouse middle button is still not working even though it is tested working using online test.

my Ergo mouse have worked for every game over the years except this game!!!!
i dont even know how to start to solve this?
it is a left handed mouse and i need it, likely developer never considered for left handed people

sorry, got confused, my ourboros is configured as a lefthanded mouse and it still works but the ergos is right handed and only can be used as a right handed mouse.

it seems the middle mouse button completely cannot work at all, even the scroll function is not working

Sorry, can't help. I can only relay what worked for me. I'm using a bog standard Alienware mouse.
