You know you love it! Having to decide what the hell true neutral plays like. Deciding whether a Lawful Good character is truly Lawful Stupid or not! Chaotic Neutral and Neutral Good magically fitting any character ever created for any decision. It's fun!! :D

Luckily they got rid of alignment in 4E and 5E. That said it's great for those that understand DnD alignments to use them to explain in DnD code (but simple enough for non DnD people to understand), what factions/people in other genres etc. are like.

Plus Cyberpunk 2077 is based on tabletop so... (it's own PnP ruleset which I don't think has alignments) ...but yeah loosely based. :P

Yeah, I am learning that what might seem the right thing to do sometimes is a mistake. Listen to Johnny.

Actually I should have mentioned this before about the Phantom Liberty Mr. Hands gig Netwatch/Voodoo decision:

The optimal ending for the quest is to side with the Netwatch undercover agent. If you sided with Netwatch over the Voodoo Boys beforehand, you can mention the agent involved (Bryce Mosley who does in fact survive and that dead body isn't him) who speaks highly of you (and V mentions that yeah but he set me up! lol).

Anyways siding with the Netwatch Agent gets you a bonus, a happy Mr. Hands, and your client lives and gets Netwatch protective custody, which is A LOT better than just killing the VB Netrunner blackmailer, because another VB Netrunner will just zero your client anyways. Win/Win/Win.

Edit: You can also see the Voodoo Boys' "Neutral Evil" tendencies by picking up some shards in the base. They're blackmailing and killing people based solely on their lack of Netrunner protection for eddies.

Brick has red eyes (lots of them) and, compared to the overly-chromed Cpsychos that make up Maelstrom while under Royce's rule which isn't typing much for such a low bar, he's rather decent. When stripped of all authority, he still had the respect and loyalty of some Maelstrom, something a demon or devil could never accomplish once removed from power.

Whenever Jackie used his cyberware, his eyes would flash red.

It's about what they do, not how they look. VB intends to risk the demise of everyone just so they can survive. Netwatch exists to stop that even though they are usually very heavy handed and trigger-happy. For now, one of those two must continue to exist, and by the script, one of those two is required to die (though both can be zeroed).

Sorry VB, but we are forced to choose which of you two live or die. I choose the future of everyone. We can deal with Netwatch through a long con. VB isn't giving us that option.
Silverbane7 Oct 18, 2023 @ 12:39pm
But the VDBs don't survive any way you play. (the high ups at least. The average gangoon on the street does, since you can use them to grind leveling or at least they USED to be grindable before 2.0, I duno, I don't grind them myself)

Whether you personally flatline the inner circle of netrunners, one bullet/blade or quickhack/grenade at a time... Make a deal with NetWatch and get them fried...or walk away and do nothing.
They are gone.
One last message from Placide and thats it.
(First time I was worried he was going to be coming after me at first, lol)

I mean, tis possible they are out there, beyond the Blackwall but I doubt it.
The old net still has R.A.B.I.D.S. out there (not many, mind...but any number higher that zero of those buggers is 1 to many lol) and they will attack and digitally flatline anything human. They won't touch those who have had Soulkiller used on them tho (which may explain why V could pass thru. Johnny's presence saved V yet again)
The angry AIs will attack humans (why Alt dragged us back thru to safety) too, in fact only the peaceful AIs and escaped Soulkilled digital personalities are even remotely 'friendly' and most of them are in Shangri la (the Ghost World)

Get the feeling that the Netwatch folks the boys burned were just the ones 'online' at the time, rather than all of them tho.

Also, I think 'Bryce Mosley' may be a codename rather than an actual individual agent.
If you head to a hidden gem in Pacifica, on the underwater underpass back to Haywood, you can find a couple of dead netwatch agents on a rooftop there.
One of them has the badge/Id of 'Bryce Mosley' aswell so perhaps there are only a handfull of agent names/identitys that they use.
(Bit like the way the men in black guys change to the letter of their name ect)
It would also allow them to claim they only had 'a few agents, here and there' when in reality they had many many agents out there, all using maybe 30 or 40 names.
(And so long as one 'Bryce Mosley' was still active, it wouldn't matter to the pencil pushers if the rest were ghosted)

I interpreted Placide's last message not to be a threat if you assisted VB. I interpreted it as "Be careful out there. Don't trust anyone."

Text makes it really difficult to get full context of tone. You could be right in that he was issuing a threat.

When you treat alt well, there is an option at the end of the rogue to apologize to her using jhony, in this case she tells jhony to be very careful, vodoo boys are their allies, so I'm on alt's side, I don't trust netwatch

I always helped militech but after playing phantom I saw what a horrible person Mayers is Maelstrom would be the lesser evil
EricHVela Oct 19, 2023 @ 7:56am
Regarding Militech: Smasher and Maelstrom are "in bed" together. They had a person named Mallory hostage on the Ebunike to make Gilchrist do what they wanted: Get the info on the convoys for Maelstrom. Smasher likely did it for Yori. Maelstrom did it for Smasher. Gilchrist was doing it for Mallory.

Is Gilchrist the better choice? No clue. All options are muddied once all factors are discovered and considered. (Requires metagaming knowledge, but after the first run, I'll metagame the heck out of any game if it has replayability.)

The information (and body) regarding Mallory and the extortion/blackmail of Gilchrist can be found on the Ebunkie. I don't know if she lives if you betray Meredith for Gilchrist. I'll be trying that on a later playthrough.

I find her in the same state no mater which path I take. (Note, data is pre 2.0)
(Ie, my streetkid who sided with the maelstrom and my corpo who sided with Meredith both find her in the shower)
Rogue used to say something about it, but she now just triggers the fight with Grayson if you get too close (past the kang Tao crates she's been looking for all over town) I'm told its a glitch.
The detes are up somewhere on YouTube tho.

That proposes a new conundrum. With Gilchrist in charge of that internal affairs department, nothing that Maelstrom has on Gilchrist matters if Mallory dies. Gilchrist is free and likely out for revenge.

Curious.

Only if he knows she is dead.
Its likely that he won't find out for some time. Its also likely that maelstrom will try to keep this going as long as possible.
They will want to milk this puppy for all its worth....
(Personally, I think Dumdum should take over. He's smart, peaceable for a chrome lovin maelstomer and could calm things a bit by making their business over to be about their software. The Raven Controller. Selling that. Selling software conversions...."bring us your stolen stuff, we'll clean it, install our soft then its yours" and maybe make the gang less.....likely to go straight to Valhalla with a bang, all shiny like lol)
