No secret ending?

so I have my save where I did all possible missions for Johnny (since this was my 2nd attempt, I used the guide to definitely get the secret ending) but I've been sitting on the roof for 10 minutes and there's no way to get the secret ending, the entire save was made just for this ending and I'm currently at a loss

The secret ending won't happen until you're in the datafortress with Alt and Johnny after dealing with Arasaka

did you make sure that you chose the right dialogue options in the oil fields when talking to Johnny?
that is the main thing, making sure you chose the right options when talking to him.

OP said he used a guide. The problem is, he's expecting to get the secret ending while on the rooftop on the building near Misty's esoterica. But that's just the place where you pick your approach (via Aldecaldos' help, handing the reins to Johnny and take Rogue or putting your trust in Arasaka).

But ... isn't that correct? Everything I can find suggests that, if you've done the prerequisites correctly, you should get the option while you're on the roof top (after five minutes of not choosing an option).

Once you've accomplished the "Chippin In" quest correctly, by choosing the right chain of dialogue choices, when talking to Johnny in the oil fields, it should unlock the secret ending for you.

When you get to Misty's roof, you have to then pick "call rogue", then Johnny will ask you "are you absolutely sure?". Then pick, "i need more time to think" and he'll nod.

Then you just have to sit there for approximately 5 minutes. Leave your controls on idle. Don't do anything at all during these 5 minutes. Sometimes he'll start talking sooner than 5 minutes. On my second playthrough, it must have bugged for me because he immediately started talking after sitting idle for just 1 minute, but on my 3rd game, it took 5 minutes.

Then he will finally start talking and tell you that you and he can go at it alone.
Immediately after you agree, the fight starts right away. No cut scenes and no time for preparations.

By the way, make sure you're fully equipped for this and take your supplements, because unless you have a meta build, the Arasaka solo run will be pretty hard, considering the Relic will be eating your health every few seconds.

By the time you've reach Adam, you'll be down below 50% your health and that won't regen. I did this on very hard difficulty and it was a B--CH to win without any metas. lol
He can literally one shot you and the borg has aim assist like no other. xD

"Don't fear the Reaper" is widely considered the secret ending, yes.

Yeah, but last time I looked at the main place to get that (think it was the wiki)
It was slightly wrong.
Left out one part of the options at the oil fields conversation.

Plus, originally you didn't have to choose to go with Rogue, then back out of it.
Far as I remember, you just had to talk to Johnny about each one but not choose any of them before 2.0
Many folks did exactly that pre 2.0 and sat there unable to choose on day one, and got the 'secret' ending first playthru lol. Didn't even know it was a hidden option.

I'd be in the op's shoes myself because I wouldn't want to choose to go with Rogue.
She's too important to both Johnny and that V (my main one) for her to risk Rogue's life like that, even with how confident Johnny is that the two of them could do it.

You can try one last thing though I am not 100% sure this command still works

But you will require a console enable tool like CyberEngineTweaks.

Also it only works if you did not progress beyond the point of no return.
But again they might have adjusted the sequence code it use to work before 2.2.

Not all guides are correct. Also, the conversation on the rooftop has another way of triggering (Don't Fear) The Reaper since 2.x if the conversation in the oil field was done right. Most people who don't get the secret option got something wrong in the oil fields because the guide that was used was wrong, not a bug in the game.
