Replaying the game and talking to Evelyn Parker after finishing the story once hits different...
First time around i thought she was some power player in the City, the way she talks and carries herself.

Now that i know she was just some doll that got in over her head in an all or nothing hail mary attempt at getting a better life - a life that ended tragically, i'm seeing those first conversations with her in a totally different light. Now all those mannerisms and the way she talks sound completely different.

Kudos to the writers, i was fooled like i was supposed to be the first time. :)
Especially because i didn't know all the slang yet, and what it all actually means.
Like, i got that she was a prostitute, but i didn't know what a doll chip was until later, and thought she was some sort of "madame" type power manipulator type. Turns out she was just some poor soul NC swallowed up and spat out.

Man, this game is amazing!

There's a lot of this game you don't pick up on until you've played through a few times, at very least. In the broadest terms, your choices don't change the overall course of the story, but many of the paths you take from beginning to end differ so seamlessly that you don't realize how much variation there can be unless you deliberately make different choices on replay.

I'm more or less doing just that.
Last playthrough i was a male V street kid, and made certain choices during all of the main missions. Can't remember each, but i remember enough. I had an intelligence build with smart weapons and tech.
Now I'm playing as a female corpo V and its already pretty fresh. I'm going cool and reflexes this time. Cool comes up in dialogue quite often. But I'm trying to vary what i did last time to see the outcomes.

Yeah, this game is constructed like a good film or book that necessitates experiencing more than once. This effect is compounded by the fact that your choices alter the story and how you gleam new insights from those changes.

I think Phantom Liberty is an incredible example of this, as you only learn the full picture of the nature of Reed and Songbird's relationship if you play both wildly different paths through to their conclusions.

Recently bought Phantom Liberty! I see it starts with Evelyn Parker actually!
Can't wait to see where this goes. :)
Even more details to paint the picture! :)

Yeah, there's some pretty amazing writing in this game. I also thought Evelyn was some big time head honcho hiding in a doll factory, when I first played this game.
Definitely hits different after a second playthrough. :)

If only you could change the outcome D: My poor girl gets dumped into the ocean.
