giving it more thought. he comes off as an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but means well, which is what MOST armed service people do. ie your air force, army, navy etc.
I guess people are easy short sighted and not look at bigger pictures, it's not like real johnny want to mess with head, he just forced into by Arasaka.
Johnny was lost and confused, beat you up in the game, then aware he just stuck just like you.
thats exactly why *some* people hate him.
other's hate him because he was voiced/acted by a famous person/Keanu specifficaly.
(some hate the character, others hate because 'if they chose a nobody, we woulda had -insert multiplayer/co-op/pvp/other things they wanted- because money spent/famous person means we lost something)
others hate the fact to them, he's killing their V, and consider it deliberate
(it wouldn't be, if they took the time to treat him like a person, not a parasite. it's a self fulfilling prophecy)
and for others it's because of his personality.
my input didn't like him the first time he played.
said 'he's had his time, lived his life. V should get the body'
but he knew zero about cyberpunk lore at the time.
i told him more about what happened before, how the Johnny we *see* differs from the Johnny we used to know.
second time he played, he took a little time to get to know Silverhand.
and Johnny grew on him a bit more.
His character arc was never supposed to be "mellow out the anti-corpo terrorist" in him, his character arc is that he realises that he's been pretty much an manipulative ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throughout his life and his "second life" is more of a redemption arc to that.
