I was really tempted to kill both the people upstairs. Did anyone do that? What were people's thoughts on it? I mean it was like a gut punch.

The son seems to be forced into the business by his father. He clearly seems to be uncomfortable with the work and being pressured by his father into the business. I decided to kill the father and let the son live. I see no reason to kill the son. Reading texts I found in the area also conformed that the son is not really into it. People who shot both do not read or care about the morale in the situations, they just bang bang everything like its Call of Duty.

Pop pop. :vlambeerYV: No complications, BD retrieved, contract fulfilled.

The writers leaned hard into making you want to pull the trigger, and they did a pretty good job at it. One of the 3 quests in the game that left a little nugget in my stomach at the end of it.

To be complicit against your better judgement is worse than ignorance, that's deontology 101.

Just wanna click-click-clack, just wanna clickity-clack dat.

There is an email or a shard of the dad talking to someone about reusing a boy from a previous BD. And if necessary drugging the boy so that he would be able to make it through another BD. Implying that it was something torture or even sexual related. I don't recall if it said exactly what the BD was about.

There is also another shard or email between the dad and someone else basically trying to talk the dad out of that line of work and begging the dad to not involve his son in the business. Obviously the dad didn't listen to this advice.

So the dad is definitely a POS that deserves a slow painful death. It could be argued that the son is less guilty in the sense that he was misguided by said POS dad. But I'd argue that he was old enough to know what he was doing was wrong. So they're both garbage human beings and deserve to die.

there is also a shard from a murdered clerk, on an overpass near Lizzie's bar of mox territory which tells about the story of preacher's tortured, raped, murdered son. Which you get involved later into the game

If you listen to what they say when you confront them the son starts offering you BDs of some incrementally sick stuff. The dad butts in to stop him so that he doesn't say too much knowing that most people won't be swayed by that type of stuff or may even be more likely to kill them. And if you wait before walking in you also hear the son getting really into it with the ideas for the scroll their currently tweaking. Perhaps it's you that didn't read into it enough. Maybe he initially had doubts but I haven't found that particular shard/email. But when you confront them he is definitely into it at the point.

My question is, how could you do this mission and not kill them? If you listen to them when you walk in, you see how much the son is into the torture killing BDs. When you kill the dad and read the shard on his body you can see how he's only motivated by the money and doesn't feel bad about it at all. The best way to do it is to save the game before going into the room, then killing one of the two (shotgun to the face does a good job) then after the surviving one (not for long) cries about how you killed their son/dad, kill him too. This is best done with a frag grenade (no open caskets for these dikbags), as seeing how many appendages you can manage to blow off is a satisfying ending for these two. For me though, killing the son first got the best response from the dad, who drops to his knees and sobs. It made me think that his life would end up so poorly that I almost decided not to kill him, but since he's clearly a sociopath I thought he might get over it, so he got a frag to the face in the end. I just wish CDPR would add a mission that follows up on this gig so we could kill the people who carried out the killing and recorded the BD.

Sounds like you didn't listen to how much the son was loving his line of work when you walk in, or how he tries to get out of it by offering even more "hardcore" scrolls. The son is just as bad as the dad and there's no evidence that he was "forced" into anything. They both are profiting off of the murder of kids, they both deserve to die, and the most satisfying way to kill them is by killing the son first.

They not just tune and sell, like he says. If you read the shards, they both are well known buyers and resellers of dark braindances around the city. They aren't somebody's workers, they work on themeselves. And that makes them straight sponsors of the murders.

Threw a knife into both heads. Son first.

I don't think forced is the right word, i think groomed would be the more apt one.

This whole dynamic is just twisted. I think we can safely say the dad is a sociopath, as various shards confirms that he's not just tuning BD's to make some eddies like he claims, he takes an active role in their creation, and is a consumer of these products. He clearly gets off to this stuff.

The moment you wake them up, gun in hand, the dad instantly understands the trouble he's in, and starts trying to bargain with you, tries to pass the buck, gaslight you, but the son is acting very strangely.

For a kid growing up in Night City, he doesen't seem to realize the danger he is currently in. He seems sheltered, naive, like he never grew up, never actually met the dangerous world he lives in.

The implications here are deeply desturbing, to put it mildly.

Alternate each playthrough to ensure everybody is mad about your choice. This last run was hand grenade interrupt because it is faster. Next time is just leaving the job undone on the map!

As a street kid, no other option but to end these two degenerates with extreme prejudice.

So I did.

Just end them. Had a convo w/ them and when they said "which preachers kid" I lost it then I went and really all the emails. Bs about needing some eddies was a gonk lie.

Always kill the son first so the dad cries. And I have always since the first time I ran across this gig killed all Maelstrom I see. Them and scavs.
Draconifors Mar 2, 2024 @ 10:56am
I think I've done the gig three times so far.

The first time, I killed them both, for being utterly disgusting, sick scum (after talking to them), one time I killed one of them so the other would get a taste of grief (can't remember which one I killed), and one time I simply ignored them and didn't even talk to them.
