MAJOR SPOILERS: The Good, The Bad, and Phantom Liberty (characters and endings)
I'm only considering the conclusion of PL and very little of what comes after.

I keep seeing it stated that sending So Mi to the moon is the best PL ending. I think that's the worst ending.

So Mi lies the entire time. She uses everyone she can. Her claims of regret for hurting so many people for her "freedom" lose their sincerity among all the lying. Even her claims of freedom are marred by her leaving Earth to join the people who she thinks might end up using her anyway. We still don't really know for certain what happens to So Mi though a better idea than if we give her to Reed.

Reed never lies. Anyone who works with him does so voluntarily with full knowledge of what's expected. Reed keeps his word. Reed seems to truly believe that the NUSA can help So Mi as naïve as that belief is. He's not "peace at all costs" because he shows that he tries to stay within the boundaries of his edicts even if it means more work than mowing through everyone to get to his target and leaving no witnesses—as little collateral damage as possible. Unlike So Mi, his claims of regrets are backed up by his honesty.

Letting So Mi go Blackwall-Cyberpsycho (which means Alex dies :steamsad:) and giving her to Reed seems like the best ending to me because V doesn't know Pres. Myers' plans (and Reed doesn't seem to know, either). A limited number of innocent people die. Like the Lunar ending, we also never find out for sure what happens to So Mi. Another opportunity to deal with V's future opens.

To keep as many allies alive as possible (meaning Alex), betraying Reed then giving him So Mi works except almost an entire international spaceport of innocent people die (and So Mi claims she regrets it but seems to feel like it's all worth it—people who are willing to sacrifice anyone for what they want, have the power to do it, and certainly already have sacrificed innocent people for what they want shouldn't be wandering free and untethered). V still gets that opportunity for a possible future.

Should the NUSA have such a loose-cannon weapon? Given how calculating Pres. Myers has shown that the NUSA is, that weapon won't be loosed again. So Mi's better there than in the hands of people who might try to turn her firepower against the NUSA and start a war for a petty grudge upon a continent that still hasn't healed from the last time.

I think it is okay for So Mi to possibly be condemned to a hell worse than death for all she's done and still willing to do at the end of all things in the Lunar ending. She's not a "good guy".

Reed, for all his flaws, is a "good guy". He lives in a hell built by his regrets, something done only to only people with a conscience. His conscience is his master, and others use that against him, Pres. Myers and So Mi included.

As for what V does with the aftermath of Phantom Liberty, that's for V to decide with whatever options are left.

A relatively level headed assessment that will likely fall on deaf ears, especially on the steam discussion board.

Naive types who have never been taken advantage of, cluster b personalities that see themselves in her and admire a will to survive at any(one else's) cost, simpLetons and those who infantilize her in my estimation.

If you glued Fingers' head onto her body everyone's tune would change in a heartbeat. It's okay to empathize with her without excusing her for everything she did. Lots of bad people have gutwrenchingly sad stories, but it doesn't absolve them of any responsibility.

All that said, I wouldn't casually wish her worst fate on almost anyone, fictional or not. You have to really think about what that means. Mercy isn't just for the deserving.

No i agree.

Not only did So Mi lie to and betray everybody, including the player, but her plan ends up getting a whole slew of innocent people killed, and in the end, the reason people go through with it is because they want to save her... but are we really saving her?

We know who she's working with, who she's meeting on the moon, and it's Mr. Blue Eyes, the same guy who's involved in the plot to brainwash the Peralez'es, who seems to be involved with some major conspiracy going on behind the scenes. We have no clue what his motivations are, although if what he's doing to the Peralez'es is any indication, then it's likely nothing good, and he and his organization are clearly willing to do very shady things to get what they want.
And we're supposed to belive he just wants to help So Mi? No, i don't belive that for a second. She is a living weapon, and i belive he just wants that weapon for himself, for his cause. Whatever that cause may be.

So in the end, there is a very good chance that all you are doing by helping So Mi get to the moon, is making things even worse for her, because she is now completely at the mercy of whoever Mr. Blue Eyes and his organization are, and whatever they want to use her for.

And for that matter, since So Mi's mind is now contaminated by the Blackwall AI, in a fashion not dissimilar to how V's mind is entangled with Johnny's, how can we even be sure So Mi planned this? That it wasen't actually the Blackwall AI who wants this outcome? That So Mi is getting played and betrayed by the Blackwall AI? It is a legit posibillity.

With Reed and Meyers, atleast you know what you're getting.
