Is The Tower the official ending?
To me this feels most likely to become canon and carry on into a second game, even if V were to die until the next game.

If this is the official ending, better count me out for any sequels cos that's the ending I probably hate the most (even more than the corpo ending), and I'm not dealing with the fall-out from this one.

There is no "official" ending. And any sequel will very likely be entirely about new characters in a new story, unrelated to V.
"The Star" seems to be the most popular ending though and its the one that its most open ended about V and their fate.

Unrelated to V most likely, but the backstory of NC will probably continue and the changes of that ending feel like a point to continue. It is for sure the most interesting one.

I think the Phantom Liberty ending will be the "official" one. I just cannot see CDPR not having either a cameo, or a reference to V as a fixer in their next cyberpunk release. Sure I've read that V will not be in the next game, but with how far out that actually is, I'll be surprised if there isn't a "V's alive" Easter egg in it somewhere.

Beg to differ - the Sun ending is just as open-ended about V and their fate as the Star ending. As, actually, is the Devil ending.

finding V's bullet pendant that they lose in the new ending would be a pretty nice easter egg if the next cyberpunk game is indeed a sequel and PL's cure ending turns out to be canon.

If anything, The Sun would be the canon ending because it's most true to V's personality and goals, The Tower is the exact opposite, it's the destruction of V's life and dreams for the sake of survival, it's not a happy ending.

true. but V in character does not know this (tho might suspect it, if they are paying attention)

I don't think there should be any canon ending as such.
I would prefer the next game checked your save file (if you had one) or asked you which save file you want to use (if you had more than one) and changed a few things in game acordingly.

so, you chose the Tower? yeah, you could find the Bullet Pendant somewhere in the gutter..lost, much like V. If the Afterlife is still around, there would be another set of items up on a shelf, much like Rogue's Silverhand memorabilia.
And New Merc's might hear from old hands about a misterious Legend that worked their way up the Merc world, only to vanish.

you chose the Devil? Saburo is still kicking around, now in the body of his grandson/great grandson/a true clone of himself. Ruling with an iron fist, he now controls half the world (asia and east asia) while everyone else battles it out for the scraps of the western world.
Arasaka owns NightCity, the corpo zone now stretches from the city center all the way to the oil fields. (cosmetically....no graffiti, no trash, arasaka logo's evverywhere, arasaka guards and mooks everywhere)

you chose instead to not finish any ending (me lol)
well, the city is mostly the same. You can find story's, rumours and legends about this merc, V...graffiti asking 'where's V?!' alongside the 'where's Johnny?!' stuff.
depending on which gangs you rode in hard on, took out rather than leave them unconsious on the floor (non lethal vers lethal play) some gangs might have V as their personal Boogieman.
there might be images of V like the gang members on the walls, but sugesting they help Santa Muerte (we do have a tendancy to kill first, question later XD. so maybe She follows V sometimes lol)
Maybe the Maelstrom use V to scare newbies. Maybe Arasaka does too (lol. they already do that with Johnny's ghost)

things like that.
nothing big, nothing that actually changes the (next game) story. just a bit of fun.

for me, the tower and the devil endings are the worst. (personal opinion, you may not agree with me, its personal and subjective)

The tower ending doesn't destroy V's life, it closes a chapter in V's life and opens up another.

The Tower is literally a symbol of destruction in tarot, it's symbolic to V's entire previous way of life being destroyed because they can't use cyberware anymore, which means they can't be nearly effective as a merc. They sacrificed everything of themselves to change their fate, but I would consider that a fate worse than death to sacrifice your own dreams and ideals for the sake of survival.

That's the way I see it too...V at that point is not much different than when he first arrived in Night City. Lots of people rebuild their lives after some life-changing catastrophe.

But I doubt very much that Orion will be a continuation of V's story. At best we'll see some reference to him similar to David Martinez.

The Tower ending is the "I'm a selfish ♥♥♥♥♥ and destroyed someone else's life in order to survive, and showed everyone I didn't care about anyone but myself, now watch me act all surprised and hurt when I find out people don't care about me, either" ending.

Welcome to Night City, we're not heroes, but survivors

There's one major problem with that theory, and it comes in the form of the word "He".

He? Who the hell is he? V was a woman, a woman with a pastel blue ponytail with pink higlights.

I played the game, i saw it with my own eyes!

And that is why "V" can never be more than vague whispers in future games. David Martinez was a fixed and established character. V isen't.

They could read save games and make V look exactly how you made them.
