Is there a way to save Slider?

I regret missing the optional choice (that was basically an intelligence skill check) that would have V telling Reed to help Slider. I had enough intelligence too, but missed it due to the timer and my dumbass panicking lmaoo
Could that have saved Slider, if anyone knows?

As of my knowledge Slider always dies.
