Phantom Liberty Bad Storytelling...
Is it just me or is the story incredibly boring... Just bloated and drawn out scenes of idris alba talking blah blah blah stating the same 3 things over and over again.

The story is so contrived and all over the place and full of incessant talking and talking and talking that it's difficult to keep up or care as most of it has literally NOTHING to do with V.

Characters are all 1 dimensional with monotone voice acting to the point where if they actually show some emotion it's really jarring and often poorly elaborated. You can go out of your way to get extra scenes with them but there's genuinely not a speck of interesting substance in any of them beyond being 'cool secret agents'

And what is this new zone? Pay 30$ to run around in a tiny ugly junkyard with nothing in it except 1 shop area. Literally the only cool thing is the random airdrops until you realize it only drops basic loot you find off of enemies anyway, creating no reason to even go for them when they rupture my eardrums crashing into a nearby building.

Is it, or are you simply looking for a reason to complain about the game? I mean, it's all good if that's the case, but I myself wouldn't rate the storytelling as bad, just linear and forced.

I'm in disagreement with pretty much everything stated.

I think Alba has way more presence than Reeves does, and his stories in connection with the history of Dogtown are really pretty interesting. The gigs' stories really do a good job of bringing both the history and present into sharper focus as well.

I haven't been bored by any of it, and the level of detail in Dogtown is bloody amazing.

There's even two market zones, not one.

I'm getting my money's worth, that's for sure. Sorry it's not like that for you. Different games for different people.

yeah it's so weird how this cd projekt red game that makes lore rich and story dense games is full of exposition and dialogue /s

This expansion alone made me forget that I had slogged through 150+ hours of starfield which was a middling and outdated game.

That's because there's no need for me to. I know what I like in the story, and since you didn't specifically ask for details, then I didn't give any and simply disagreed.

Gotta ask for what you want.

I mostly hope this DLC isn't a look into what we can expect from the second installment of the game. The writing suffers from what I call Star Wars Syndrome, where the plot can be boiled down to good guys vs. badguys and the diologue is mostly there to be mildly clever instead of each line unfolding aspects of charachter and plot you otherwise wouldn't have known (which, in my opinion, is a strength of much of the base game).

As a property born nearly directly from William Gibsons novelizations, I think its fair to insist that nuance is EVERYTHING in a genre this charachteristically over-the-top — and this DLCs writing does not help to balance that out.

I honestly enjoyed the story Phantom Liberty tells. The trailers and other press releases seemed to mislead us into thinking that the whole thing was going to be about President Myers. In actuality, it's about Solomon Reed trying to make up for the mistakes of his past, and Song So Mi desperately trying to escape hers. For me, Reed ended up being the most sympathetic character no matter what ending you went with, and I did go for all four different endings in the DLC.

Granted, there was some serious predicability to the main story. I immediately knew what happened to cause the plane crash. Some solutions to the side missions could be seen miles away. But that didn't mean I got no enjoyment out of the gameplay. I liked Mr. Hands' new self and his deliberate dealings in Dogtown, trying to sway things. The side mission with Lina was hilarious. The gigs to help various people and groups in Dogtown left me thoughtful about how they must live.

Now what I didn't like were the "but wait there's more" moments I constantly seemed to have. I go to save the cops... I go to save the doctor. Turns out the cops are scumbags. Turns out the doctor's a scumbag. The "what a twist" moments became fairly overdone. And half the endings (which lead to the same conclusion) were pretty unsatisfying. I get that CP2077 is supposed to be dystopian, but there's a fine line between an ending that will leave you thoughtful but satisfied, and the kind that just feels depressing for depression's sake.

There's probably more I could say on both sides of the discussion, but overall I am glad I played Phantom Liberty. It added more to a game I really love, and now that I've beaten it, I am seriously considering making a fourth character just for the heck of it. That's how much I enjoyed this game.

I liked most of it except the cure ending. For me that ranks up there as one of the worst game endings of all time.

Responding to OP, yes it is boring storytelling, hope who ever was in charge of it stays away from any Cyberpunk future developments
