I'm with you on you not involving the Aldecados in theory which is why my first ending was trusting Johnny to take on Arasaka and then to give me my body back. In practice, V leaving his friends and Panam to die a legend in space was a bit disappointing... so the Aldecado ending is currently my preferred ending... even though if V ultimately dies the Aldecados will probably be wiped out shortly after. They are only able to swing so far above their paygrade because of V. Throughout the game you are bailing them out even in obscure side quests.
I don't trust Arasaka... There are worse things in the world then corps, but this particular corp let a great and loyal man like Takemura die because at the time it was convenient to pretend they didn't know the son was guilty as sin.
That V and Takemura wishes to see each other gives a lot of hope in the end. I have no doubt Takemura is going make sure V gets the new body if it's the last thing he does, even if he has to rough up Hellman a little LOL.
The game trying to make you think the Johnny endings were good was kind of disturbing... Making your friends go do another useless terrorist attack at Arasaka was sociopathic and selfish. There was no glory in that. No glory in betraying Takemura so he committ seppuku. Like how does anyone actually enjoy that? I mean I guess if you have a romance then it makes some sense. But even if you liked River (which it turns out most of us don't) you simply are fk buddies. You don't actually have a deep and meaningful relationship. I mean if you want to role play that you can, if you want to move in with him and believe it will grow strong, but this is just a fact. I don't see him as close enough to you as to be worth doing a terrorist attack and betraying Takemura over. Now Judy and Panam, maybe. Possibly Kerry too, because they are all connected with the relic story at least.
Johnny lies to you and manipulates you the whole time. The Devil's ending is mainly about who wins the battle tor your loyalty between Takemura and Johnny. Not sure why anyone would choose his friendship over Takemura's. But the game actually convinces people that Johnny is a more noble person than Takemura, the one who actually saves your life and never lies to you. It's so weird to see people go along with that, willing to bring their Nomad / NC comrades to their demise to do it if they must. Bomb Arasaka tower for literally no reason, kill another 4k people, give Yorinobu power to do his World War, let Militech take over the soul killer code and make their own Mikoshi. It's all stupid and pointless, and if V never had the ability to speak with Johnny they would have never even considered doing it. They would just go to Hanako and try to get the chip removed.
I think a corpo war would be amazing, and actually if they don't continue from the devil's ending I probably won't have any interest in playing the expansions. I played this game because I thought the corpo path was gonna be cool, serious, dark, and intelligent bladerunner corpo ♥♥♥♥. Then they throw you into the streets an hour into the game and it becomes somewhat goofy. The Nomad and street kid stuff can just be very unserious. I want to do more high level espionage and with lots of dialogue and Intel gathering. Also I really didn't care about any of the Nomads so if I don't see them again doesn't bother me.

nomad is not so good cos whole clan is under corpohunt after and many nomads and civilians died
problem with rogue ending is that js controls body not v but he can use v's quickhacks what is little bit strange
secret is just lazy, short and demand a lot of grind

My first ending of game was to let he and Rogue go blast into Arasaka. I thought he mentioned at one point he'd stolen 2 nukes from Militech, so I thought maybe the other one was still around. He even had the line something like "I'm going to set things right... even if I have to watch the whole world burn," when you pick that ending sequence. It'd have been so epic to let him nuke Arasaka again. Instead Alt kills most stuff for him.
Keanu's performance in this whole game is amazing tho. Got to be his best in years, if not ever.
As for going the Arasaka way, my V was corpo so it was tempting to do that. It'd have been interesting if Corpo V could have apologized to Saburo Araska's engram, acknowledging that in the intro when V agreed to help one exec kill another exec, he was betraying the Arasaka family. V should have found another way to advance in Arasaka. Arasaka is supposed to be family.
Because Arasaka is supposed to be about family, I think it's awesome there is a nomad ending. I haven't played it yet, but the Aldecaldos are a stronger family than Arasaka. I'd like to see that showdown with Saburo. Be a real epiphany for Saburo to see that maybe his son went nomad because he was looking for the real family connection Saburo couldn't provide.
The suicide was my first ending, I just couldn't decide which way i wanted to go^^, I have now done ALL endings though :)
Yes, indeed: it is damaged.
The chip was not designed to take damage from a bullet. Whatever it was designed to do, it's amazing that it did anything at all.
That said, to some degree, what the chip was doing was installing a copy of Johnny and enabling Johnny to make choices. Initially those choices were entirely self destructive, but (depending on how V copes with everything), that tends to change.
What's interesting to me is that even in the "Johnny takes over" scenarios: unless Johnny suicides, some of V still remains. Andrew Helrman was operating from a rather flawed model of how the brain works, so we should not be too surprised when we find that his predictions were inaccurate. (And Viktor knew even less about the subject -- he knew enough to do surgery, but not enough to understand the relic.)

I chose to cut a deal with Hanako because I desired a minimum of bloodshed. My general approach in the game (and I guess in life, too) is to be hard but fair. Arasaka may be a soulless, unscrupulous corporation, but I have no more beef with them than I do with Militech, Kang Tao, etc. After having Johnny nuke their headquarters with thousands dead, plus me killing more when we stole the relic, and not feeling justified in blasting my way back in there and killing even more innocents, I considered it fair enough that I help Hanako bring her brother to justice in exchange for helping me get the engram extracted.
Hanako keeps her word, even though her sympathies end the moment our deal is concluded. Subsequently, Saburo meets with President Myers and the war with Militech ends, which is another positive, at least from the pacifist perspective. The implications of Saburo being resurrected is a separate issue to be fought over after the main storyline. There will be time enough for the people to fight Arasaka and the other corporations.
However, I think this ending works best if V chooses to return to earth, and live his last six months on his own terms, rather than being a digital prisoner of Arasaka. Given the cyberpunk neo-noir roots of this story, where the hero fights impossible odds, I think this ending is appropriately bleak with a hint of hope in that V has learned the value of living six months as a free man, rather than an eternity as a prisoner.
Perhaps you're suggesting that the marketing in that picture is not just ordinary marketing but a philosophical statement which must be inherently valid in all religions?
