I think it's on Epic's store aswell, but you coulden't pay me to go there.
If you managed to implement steam workshop in the GOG and Epic version, you should give CDPR a call.
There’s already a thriving modding scene for this on Nexus; it’s currently sitting at #8 of the most modded games with over 150,000,000+ mod downloads. Adding Steam Workshop would be utterly pointless. It’d be akin to adding medieval swords/bows and siege weaponry to a 21st century modern military.
I think it would be interesting to know how many more people would use mods though with steam workshop over nexus.. like how many people that use steam workshop that don't use or know about nexus. or how many new people would try out modding through steam workshop that otherwise wouldn't try modding.. not saying that steam workshop is kind of irrelevant for people that already mod or use nexus.. but I'm one of these people that would love to see the modding scene open and accessible to everyone.. I want everyone to enjoy gaming to its fullest potential.. who knows.. maybe one day steam will integrate with nexus mods .. haha one can dream I guess
Whenever you search in google for Cyberpunk 2077 modding the only results will be nexusmods, so literally anyone who wants to mod their game will find themselves on nexus on first try. Also not sure what you mean by seeing modding scene open and accessible to everyone, when nexus literally does that. If it were only available on steam workshop, it would hinder modding exactly because the game is released on multiple platforms and steam workshop only works on...well steam. How would EPIC and GOG players mod their games if mods are only available on Steam Workshop?
If they implemented Workshop in steam now it would just make modders job way harder since then they would have to make multiple versions of their mods to support all platform equally which would definitely break apart the modding community and there would a ton of angry people who'd want to use a mod which is only available on a specific platform any nowhere else.
Also i said this before, but even if workshop was supported on steam for CP that would just make modders and players' lives harder. At least now it's united under nexusmods and everyone can download and install whatever mods they want to install it in their games by following a pretty simple guide. You just drop files in a specific folder(s) and thats it. There is absolitely nothing hard about it nor need some sort of interface to simply doubleclick a mod to install it.
Hard disagree. Both have their places when it comes to modding for different games. To be honest, I kinda wan't both as options.
Good news everyone! Many people have developed plugins for Steam Workshop integration in Unreal Engine. CDPR reps stated they are migrated to Unreal Engine.
(I've repeatedly stated my misgivings regarding migrating to UE, not because UE is bad—it can be amazing—but it's far too easy to do things wrong and end up with a terrifyingly buggy, unoptimized mess. Using UE after using a different engine requires forgetting everything from the other engine, even if the target is the same style which makes it even more difficult to forget how things used to be done.)
Be aware that Steam workshop only works for Steam users. They may decide that it's better to just have PC mods done service-agnostic rather than support any of them specifically.
