Why is there still no workshop support on Steam
Hey, CD Project Red, most of your customers bought your game here. So open the Workshop please.

Having Steam Workshop would cut off the GOG users from accessing any mods released here, so the chances of that ever happening are pretty non-existent.

I will say there are a few times where the workshops are better than Nexus, such as in Kenshi. But that's the only time i preferred the workshop over Nexus.

Nexus Mod exist, making Steam Workshop completly irrelevent
nexus mods is sketchy when your first getting into modding though.. steam provides people with a comfortable familiar place to get started in the modding scene.. nexus mods is great though.. especially vortex .. installing vortex for me so far makes modding super simple.. almost as easy as the workshop. just a couple more clicks needed but vortex handles most of the process for you

If you managed to implement steam workshop in the GOG and Epic version, you should give CDPR a call.

On top of the valid reasons stated above, adding Steam Workshop to this game would be largely superfluous.

There’s already a thriving modding scene for this on Nexus; it’s currently sitting at #8 of the most modded games with over 150,000,000+ mod downloads. Adding Steam Workshop would be utterly pointless. It’d be akin to adding medieval swords/bows and siege weaponry to a 21st century modern military.

I think it would be interesting to know how many more people would use mods though with steam workshop over nexus.. like how many people that use steam workshop that don't use or know about nexus. or how many new people would try out modding through steam workshop that otherwise wouldn't try modding.. not saying that steam workshop is kind of irrelevant for people that already mod or use nexus.. but I'm one of these people that would love to see the modding scene open and accessible to everyone.. I want everyone to enjoy gaming to its fullest potential.. who knows.. maybe one day steam will integrate with nexus mods .. haha one can dream I guess

Whenever you search in google for Cyberpunk 2077 modding the only results will be nexusmods, so literally anyone who wants to mod their game will find themselves on nexus on first try. Also not sure what you mean by seeing modding scene open and accessible to everyone, when nexus literally does that. If it were only available on steam workshop, it would hinder modding exactly because the game is released on multiple platforms and steam workshop only works on...well steam. How would EPIC and GOG players mod their games if mods are only available on Steam Workshop?

If they implemented Workshop in steam now it would just make modders job way harder since then they would have to make multiple versions of their mods to support all platform equally which would definitely break apart the modding community and there would a ton of angry people who'd want to use a mod which is only available on a specific platform any nowhere else.

I'm not saying on steam exclusively by any means.. quite the opposite.. I'm saying why not have steam and nexus and COG and EPIC .. like I suck at explaining things.. but I'm more saying ... why can't the big dogs, like steam or EPIC or COG not implement nexus into there launchers or something so that even more people could try out modding.. like people that don't even know modding is a thing or don't know where to try or are hesitant to try a 3rd party website.. you know. I'm not against nexus by any means.. If anything I'm saying why can't we promote it more to people that otherwise wouldn't know it exists or wouldn't try it out?? Like I'm newer to PC gaming .. I never new modding was a thing.. and the first time I tried mods was through steam workshop .. but as cyberpunk shows .. not all games with mods available are available through steam... ever since I first started playing fallout with mods ... well the saying once you start you can never go back rings true.. modding is just insane.. it not only fixes so many bugs and issues with games.. but adds countless hours of content and creativity and just new life to games.. like I guess in a way why can't the game devs and companies play nice with the modding scene? you know?

Simple, there is no profit in doing it, so they won't bother. Modding is for fun by gamers to other gamers. Developers and publisher have no reason to make modders's lives easier like that. It's actually not even common for games to be so moddable as Cyberpunk. Most of the time they consider allowing to use external scripts and such but there are a lot of times modding is basically impossible. For example, modding is still PC exclusive because all consoles are so closed environment they can't/won't allow anyone to just randomly add files here and there.

Also i said this before, but even if workshop was supported on steam for CP that would just make modders and players' lives harder. At least now it's united under nexusmods and everyone can download and install whatever mods they want to install it in their games by following a pretty simple guide. You just drop files in a specific folder(s) and thats it. There is absolitely nothing hard about it nor need some sort of interface to simply doubleclick a mod to install it.

Hard disagree. Both have their places when it comes to modding for different games. To be honest, I kinda wan't both as options.

What about cloud gamer user such as geforce now users?! We can't acess nexus mods!

I don't think REDengine is designed for Steam Workshop. CP'77 is the last game to be made with REDengine. Developing a new feature for an engine on the chopping block is unlikely to happen.

Good news everyone! Many people have developed plugins for Steam Workshop integration in Unreal Engine. CDPR reps stated they are migrated to Unreal Engine.

(I've repeatedly stated my misgivings regarding migrating to UE, not because UE is bad—it can be amazing—but it's far too easy to do things wrong and end up with a terrifyingly buggy, unoptimized mess. Using UE after using a different engine requires forgetting everything from the other engine, even if the target is the same style which makes it even more difficult to forget how things used to be done.)

Steam workshop? No? :(
Are there any current plans to open up the steam workshop for mods? Don't trust mod sites at all with not having malware etc.
EricHVela Mar 8, 2024 @ 8:20am
There are no plans. The move to UE (which other developers have created Steam Workshop plugins) likely means there will be no undeveloped features added to REDengine games such as CP;77.

Be aware that Steam workshop only works for Steam users. They may decide that it's better to just have PC mods done service-agnostic rather than support any of them specifically.
