Gig: Old Friends Question

So this mission gives you the option of killing Karubo or just putting him to sleep/knocking him out. Here's my question:

If I don't kill Karubo and just knock him out and deliver him to Padre (put him in the trunk of the car), does Padre end up killing him? As per the mission, I could kill him too but I also have the option to not kill him and just deliver him to Padre alive, so I was curious what happened to Karubo since I chose to knock him out and deliver him rather than eliminate him. He's not my foe, he's Padre's foe, so I delivered him alive to Padre. Does Padre actually kill him?

Yes, he kills him.

The entire point of that gig was that he wants this guy dead, personally dead.
If you knock him out and shove him in the boot he straight up thanks you for letting him be the one to "take him on his journey from the earthly plane".
Which is simply fancy talk for "put a cap in his ass".
