Rofl, the cop AI in this game is hilariously bad
Just wanted to describe a situation I just had with the random street crime encounters. I'm driving along, minding my own business, actually relatively slow because I was needing to turn and there were a lot of cars, so I had to drop down to legal speed range, when suddenly a gang on gang car chase, complete with open firearms display on a public street, shows up. 4 dudes, from maelstrom and some other gang, smashing into cars, smashing into pedestrians, shooting up the place.....cop on the sidewalk does literally NOTHING. I stop, toss a few Synapse Burnouts at the 4 guys, and quickly, and cleanly neutralize the situation. Then what happens? I see the driver of one of the gangbanger cars has tier 5 loot, so I open the door to drag him out, thus "carjacking". NOW suddenly the cop is in Shoot To Kill mode, and I'm suddenly at 1 Cop Star of threat. Way to go NCPD! *golfclap* :steamhappy:

Sounds like typical cop behavior to me. One of the gangbangers was probably the kid of a local rich bigwig. >.>
What irritates me most in the game isn't even the police pointing guns where there is no one 😆 but rather the gangs, which we kill and take a walk around the block and they are there again, how many times do I have to kill them to disappear from the map or go somewhere else.

Yeah, that's just an unfortunate aspect of a sandbox game that allows for random "mob farming" for exp and resources. They have to keep showing up. It would be nice if there was a centralized hub point where you could actually gut the entire gang, and have it be a BIG fight type thing. Where at the end the gang is gone from that region. Some games do that, like the inFamous series. But for more static situational games like CP 2077, you just have to accept the unreality of it.

I think it's in Mafia or Saints Row that we could do something like that, create our own gang, in this case in CP2077 it would be our own mercenary channel, and the gangs return to the same place, damn the map isn't so small to always return to the same place, they could change places to disguise

I would love to play a city sprawl sandbox in a map as large and diverse as Night City (with more verticality though), where you can actually claim terf, and purge rival gangs. That would be sick as hell. Choose a fixer and club as your primary faction to work with (Afterlife or The Moxx for example), and then start doing missions to further build their influence and reach within the city. Start seeing your gang spawning on the map and actually pushing back the (now reduced) gang influence spawns that will still show up from time to time.
I'd love a game like that.

The NCPD is worthless. I don't step in to help them with situation most of the time. I hate trying to clear stars. Granted a arm launcher is probably not the best tool for that. Lol

That’s cute.

Back in 1.0, they’d used to teleport to your exact location in your field of view literally 5 seconds after you committed a crime. You could see the little red enemy dots just “pop” in to existence on your minimap. Hence I nicknamed the NCPD the “popcorn police”.

Oh yeah. They also couldn’t drive. Like at all. No driving AI = No pursuit AI meaning you could just drive a block away and it’s as if nothing happened.

(Not so) Fun times.

I thought you guys said the updates fixed them.

Never played 1.0 but from early youtube reviews they seem a lot more fixed now. They are still idiots, I simply change the color on my car or bike and they become blind. How many Bugatti from wish can there be in NC? Lol

I started playing around 1.5 or 1.6 version, up through 2.2. And yeah, apparently it's much better than 1.0. That's not the same thing as saying it's a "good" AI system :steamhappy:
...this is easy enough to explain in-universe, and frankly if you're wiping out cars with synapse burnout you can probably shrug off a 1-star bounty like eating a cupcake.

Almost every NCPD officer is corrupt. Just pretend that's why they ignore the violence, but yeah, they're pretty terrible. You can also get out of your car at 4 stars, go hide in a restaurant or something for the stars to go away, then come back out and get back in the same car and all the cops stand around watching you drive away.

Think about it this way, the people who own or are driving most of the other cars of that make with a different paint job are the same ones who can tell the cops to go pound sand after committing a murderer right in front of them. High end corpos and hyper rich types. So if you are a cop would you risk pulling over the wrong guy for anything short of an exact vehicle description match knowing if you got the wrong person your job is gone, you are probably on the other cops ♥♥♥♥-list and your life is generally ruined.
