Who thought date nights were a good idea?

So I romanced Panam (because Judy wasn't an option for male V). Soon enough, "I really wanna stay at your house" came up, and I thought sure, why not. But already, there were signs. Seemed like the relationship had skipped a few steps, from "Let's ♥♥♥♥ in a cybertank 'cause it'll be cool" to "Oh bb I can't stop thinkin bout u xo".

I get back to the apartment, Panam's there, great. I try to chat her up. Two brief dialogue options. TWO. Okay, done with that, let's cuddle. Okay, done with that, let's kiss. Okay uh... you've exhausted all available dialogue options, chief, move on. Move on to what?

Okay, stand up, there's now a "dance" option in the middle of the room. We dance badly for fifteen seconds to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ loudspeaker music I haven't figured out how to change. Gee, that was fun. Now I guess I can uh, change my clothes, and she makes some generic remark about my outfit? Can't I at least show you my weapon stash? (answer: no.) It never even occurred to me to try the bed because the date was so hilariously awkward. All the while Panam is saying like "What do you wanna talk about?" (Everything m8, but I've already exhausted both dialogue options!) Instead I just abruptly walk out like "Later babe."

I'm not really complaining, because this was never a feature I would have asked for in the first place. A romance subplot can always use more story, if it's compelling and decently written, but it has to run out eventually; this generic repeatable "quest" nonsense feels more like I'm playing the Sims. The only thing that annoys me is two seconds later Panam wants to do it again, and so now I've got a permanently unread message on my phone.

Yeah they checked it off the list on the company whiteboard with the barest bones of a feature like so many others. Good for the photomode peeps who didn't have mods for that already I guess.

It's just a very small and minor feature for players to have more interaction with their chosen romance choices, it was never meant to be something huge. It's a nice feature to have but not something important in the overall gameplay or story.

I did it once with Panam since that is who I romanced just to try it out, I liked it but never did it again. For my next playthrough I plan on romancing River (Playing as female V) then Judy after that. I just want to see how the interactions with those three goes.

Not much dialogue, indeed, nor many things to do. You can look in the mirror, where she comes up behind you, and also take a shower together. In some of the other apartments there are a few more options.

By the way, after one of the 'dates' I looked in the mirror after waking up, to see if she (Panam) got out of bed to join me there as well, but then suddenly I got Johnny's reflection! It freaked me out as much as it did V from his reaction in the game haha

Anyway, is that something that only happens after a date, or can it happen at any time, to indicate Johnny is taking more and more over, so to speak?

People wanted more " immersion" in the game. So they added date night................so there is more " immersion". The game is better for it BUT it could have been done better than it was or even gone furthur.

At any time, I think. I've never done any date stuff and I've had it happen, at least.

In general, I find the 'romance' interactions, after the basic story is complete, to be pretty lukewarm and unfulfilling. I'll probably explore them once, when they arrive, but I don't think they add much of what I want in the game. I would much rather have had some new gigs, more differentiation between the lifepaths, some better audio clips, etc.

Might be wrong but I think it happens when you look into the mirror while having a relic malfunction (one of the small ones where your sight grows all glitchy around the edges).

Most annoying for me are that this dating quest forced repeat over and over again, and you cant skip it or brake ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ relationships.
