In any case, they are responsible for Evelyn's condition, beyond the fact that in my opinion Judy and Evelyn are a pain in the ass as characters, by lore V should have some resentment towards them, especially if you are on the way to being Judy's partner.
On the other hand, Netwatch appears to be one of the apex predators of the Netrunners and V himself says that he/she does not want to have problems with them.
Never spare the Voodoo Boys.
Not to mention the fact that they're trying to pierce the Blackwall to side with the rogue AIs who want to wipe out humanity.
Siding with them is pure insanity.
Leave Placide alive, he tries to zero you (and, unbeknownst to him, Johnny who saves you) and remotely murders many, many Netwatch connected to the network, but he tries to zero you against Brigitte's wishes. She's rather annoyed with him for it. It is very likely he tried to zero Evelyn, but there's no further backstory than that other than it likely traces back to the VB.
Then again, Brigitte needed Johnny specifically, and Placide's actions put that at risk. She didn't need Evelyn once the Johnny was in-the-wild. Maybe it was a sanctioned hit.
All we know for certain is that Placide can be a loose cannon at times.
The problem is the Voodoo Boys poking holes in the Blackwall to get on the good side of the rogue AIs who want to murder everyone.
Placide being a ♥♥♥♥ pales in comparison to actively contributing to the apocalypse.
That's the option I'm always tempted to take. Let them zero Netwatch, and because Placide tried to zero V and Brigitte just wants to use V in hopes of saving herself (as if she actually gives a care about the rest), zero them when V gets what is needed... using them the same way Placide (and, indirectly, Brigitte) tried to use V.
Still, Netwatch, for all its faults, is the current guardian against rogue AIs and rogue netrunners. If it's a choice between two evils, one provides a benefit that is needed at the moment until there's a better alternative.
Alt takes them on a little.....joyride past the Blackwall, and there is only one way that works (for them, at least)
If you do the rollercoaster quest (appeared before a certain call from Judy) you get to chat to some of the locals.
After you finished working for the VDB's you can go back and talk to one of them still sitting on the couch there, and he has some.....interesting rumours to tell you about what's happening around Pacifica
(Unless that's changed. I've had at least two instances of new dialogue with V so far, different from 1.61/1.63 and I'm keeping my eyes open for new replaced stuff)
WTF are you talking about? Were you replying to me? How in the world was I supposed to know that, when you didn't quote anything I said?
I can edit whatever I posted whenever I want, and it isn't "moving goalposts". I wasn't even aware we were having a conversation until I quoted you.
What a crazy thing to get pissy about.
I mean, V can always fix it without them, but there have been a few playthroughs where they weren't there. I couldn't figure out why they were there sometimes and not other times. I preferred the grateful audience.
I never thought to have V talk to them after the VB quest arc. Since I'm not at the phone call, yet (not even looking for Evelyn after the botched gig, yet). I'll have V head over there next and, after the VB arc later, talk to them again. Thanks for the heads up!
Having VBs die, to me, is an act of necessity and nothing else. One of the two will die, and there's no way around at least that much. The only other option presented is both die. For me, spite would be zeroing all of them... and it's tempting.
You must visit Pacifica before a certain point in the story. (at least before 2.0)
I use 'a certain call from Judy' as a kinda spoiler free way to talk about it.
(Its one of those, past playthru 1 and you know what I mean kinda things)
After that point, it was no longer a quest that would drop, but you can still fix the coaster and ride it.
(I tend to wait until I get the int to do the SwedenBorg quest the way I like, lol. Its always foggy tho that day, so I slum it around Pacifica, do a couple of ncpd points then when the fog lifts, I fix the rollercoaster. Its Johnny's best day with my V already, so I feel its fitting.)
I don't know if its changed now tho.
There are subtle differences now, small things here and there.
Like, a convo with Jackie outside the AllFoods.
Now, when I pick the option to say 'we work good together' V says a whole new line about not being sad they changed up their life working with him.
Before, V used to say something along the lines of 'just wanting you to know, like how we work together' when he asks why V is saying this.
Voodoo Boys = Neutral Evil/Chaotic Evil trying to rip up the Blackwall, bring about an AI takeover of the world and be their chosen human allies.
Netwatch = Lawful Neutral/Lawful Evil trying to keep the baddie AI on the other side and protect the world from AI and groups like the Voodoo Boys, while also making a great profit on it and protecting their monopoly over the Net by whatever means necessary.
