Save edit mission "Happy Together"
Hi all

Playing the game I've come to discover that some missions have a soft 'fail'. For example, if you choose the wrong answer in the mission "Happy Together", the cop called Barry seems to commit suicide. This might only become obvious later on when you enter the floor below your flat and discover the sobbing cop. By then, you might have several hours of game time under your belt, and it will be annoying to come back to an older save in order to get this right, since I think missions cannot be reset.

I used the Nexus hosted CyberCat save editor to export and then compare save info on failed, and successful mission progress, and in case this helps someone (only proceed at your own risk! Always backup your saves), a successful save contains the following:

"Key": "mq010_objective_started",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_know_about_andrew",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_told_police_ab_andrew",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_done",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_asked_about_andrew",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_02_01_Talks",
"Value": 1
"Key": "mq010_active",
"Value": 0

A failed (but completed) mission is missing this one:

"Key": "mq010_told_police_ab_andrew",
"Value": 1

If you want this progress to have it's happy ending, you need to add the above to your save file. If you want to start this mission from the beginning, I think you need to change all the values to 0. Maybe the "mq010_active" and "mq010_objective_started" needs to have a value of 1 so they show up once again, but I didn't get that far in my testing. You can always watch a successful end for this mission on youtube.

Use the above at your own risk. I have a few other missions I realized I could do 'better', so I'll publish the results of those in here as well. Hope this helps someone.

I felt bad when that guy killed himself too. I figured I will probably do another playthrough as a different character and will try to save him then.

Yeah, you need to choose the first answer when you return to the cops, not the second one, or Barry's male cop friend will diss him. Maybe if I get successful at fixing missions, I can do it for some other requests here. But I'm only ~30 hours deep into the game, so got a lot left to see. Happy to get some Steam Awards if my 'fixes' help anyone here ;)

I would often just reload an older save to get a better quest outcome but I did too much progress meantime.

You are paid anyway if I remember !

Shouldn't there be a value for knowing who Andrew is beyond just knowing there is an Andrew?

(As one who knows who performed the original recording of the mission title's song, what should've been a sad situation just made me laugh instead.)

Is there any way to change door to normal?
I can confirm that when I add the following to my save game, the door is back to normal (and there's no crying cop next to it):
"Key": "mq010_told_police_ab_andrew",
"Value": 1

Hi, first of all thanks for the infos. I tried every combination but I allways get the self morder ending. Can someone check the exact combination to start the quest all over again? Thanks!

I think you'll need to edit your save and set all the above mentioned values to "0" in order to reset it. At least with the save editor I used, you can't delete anything, so the only other option is to set them back to zero as this seems to count as not having done the quest.

This walkthrough shows the options to choose: https://www.ign.com/wikis/cyberpunk-2077/Happy_Together

You could also just watch a youtube video of the normal (happy) ending and if you don't want to see the door with the cordoned stuff and crying cops, set the value to 1 for told_police_ab_andrew.

Personally, I just took the 'L' on the mission. I had to replay the game several times before I figured out what it was all about. Basically, I found the who and where of Andrew and how it fit into the quest. IMO this quest starts too soon in Act 2....V needs to have gone to the Columbarium and looked around first (there's a police scanner job there) before Happy Together triggers.

@CDProjectRed: it would be pretty cool of you to bring a time machine for us, so that we can replay our favorite missions :) Just an idea...

Nah, not necessary, I managed to figure it out without going to the Columbarium first. All you gotta do is pay attention and use some empathy (as in - actually care enough to first, talk to Barry, second, check the Columbarium and third, tell Barry's cop friends the right things).

Just incase you are still stuck, or anyone else is...

One other way to fail is by waiting too long to speak to Barry.

You need to use the 'can you tell me how Andrew died?' question.
This unlocks the knowledge that he was interred at the columbarium
You must visit the columbarium BEFORE talking to Petrova and Mendez (the two cops)

I always start 'Happy Together' just after calling Mama Wells.
Go back upstairs, grab some black gear (appropriate for my characters style+background) then head down the garage elevator. Get in my car, get rammed by Mr BeepBeep. Get snarky Johnny comment for flavour.

Then go back up, back to Barry's door and knock. He won't answer, of course.
Catch the Metro to the Coyote and take part in the Offence.
Ride back on the Metro since I'm too drunk (lore wise lol) to ride the bike home.
Ride the front elevator up and talk to Barry then.

I always use the 'people like us' chat option to get to talk with him. Ask about Andrew, his being like a Grampa to him.
Then drive over on the bike (sober enough then lol....it's a long train ride with the Metro mod, lol. Lots of stops if you don't get the right connection first time XD)
Chat with Johnny at the niche (lets me know in character, he's less grumpy)
Go back and talk to the cops.
And I always ask them what they knew about Andrew before using the top option.
Cause that way, Petrova says 'its nice to have someone like that's which rubs it in harder to Mendez that Barry was so isolated that all he had was.. a tortoise.

Danke Google Translate
