Siding with Songbird is a ripoff
Siding with Reed is so much more fun and fleshed out. If you side with Song all you do is take her to the airport, fight hordes of dudes, and then get a cutscene. Siding with Reed you get to fight MaxTac, chill more with Reed, fight Hansen and get his weapons, get a whole Cynosure scary section, get Blackwall weapons, and get to say FU to the president, get to actually learn Songs backstory. I decided to replay and its so much better. I wager most people wont bother replaying the missions and will potentially miss out on so much cool content. Wish they put as much effort into the Songbird path.

I did all the endings for the achievements, and I agree. Siding with Reed was way more fun. I think I told the president to not contact me again or something along those lines, which was pretty good. :D:

Although... Reed does drop a very nice gun. Silenced tech pistol. That almost made up for siding with Bongsird. Almost.

pretty much yeah.

The best ending remains the leaving night city with panam imo, but man the one where V is just a face in the crown is good too.

Yeah selling out Song sucks. You get saved, but you lose your whole identity and profession, become just a victim of corpos or crime in waiting. It also doesnt make sense, cuz why would the friends whose lives you saved multiple times and gone out of your way for all desert you? The devs just wanted to make a depressing ending to be deep.

Couldn't say, I refuse to side with Reed after he planned to kill the netrunners behind my back.

That, and I strongly suspect he also killed Jacob and Taylor based on the text he sends you about them (They've been "dealt with" or something to that effect), and you don't (to my knowledge) see or hear from them again.

I thought the same thing, even went running around dog town trying to see if I could find any evidence about it, corpses, notes etc. I didn't find anything, but I think him offing the pair is the likely outcome.

I don't know if I would say it feels like a ripoff, but I agree siding with Reed feels more fleshed out of a path. I still like helping Song, as it feels more personal and tragic. I just wish there was more time for Song and V to bond, hell for a CDPR expansion/spy thriller there's an obvious lack of romance going on in the DLC. It would've been more interesting had we spent more time with Song after her escape or before, perhaps instead of just getting in two separate cars after leaving dogtown we could've driven Song to a safe place, spent some time helping her or chatting in a more intimate sense. That would've made her ending even more crushing but I like the parallel the game was trying to setup. V and song essentially being like two sides of the same coin, understanding each other and wanting to escape their destined fates.

At the very least I think a proper ending where Song returns would've been great, coming to help you after you basically saved her in such a selfless manner. Or even had they captured V afterwards, as a "You don't get to just walk away" after murdering countless NUSA spec ops operatives. A final encounter with Miers had you chosen to side with Song. I dunno, anything to make feeling like picking song wasn't the less optimal route or option in terms of content.

V is never not a victim of corps. Everyone is a victim by the nature of how they impact society. No matter how strong V is, they can't meaningfully change that.

You dont need a 10 foot vertical leap to enjoy life. I agree that your friends abandon you way too easily, but V has plenty of life left to live to find new purpose. Considering the alternative is just dying, it seems like a pretty easy calculation to me.

The Songbird ending is the closest this game will get to Edgerunners, writing-wise.

Why would you side with that little manipulating tramp? She is clearly damaged beyond repair. Reed is the only option here.

Songbird - betrays you

Reed - would betray you

But you do have a point.

But Reed doesnt betray you. He delivers on his promise, even when you betray him and side with Song.

You might not need a 10 foot leap, but now an average gonk with some basic cyberware can kill you. You are completely defenceless in a city where the cops cant keep up with most crime.

But he would if its his mission or part of it.

Lore-wise I liked Reed's ending better than Songbird's. However, that "get chased by the robot insta-death" mission was awful.
