FPS Drop
i use FHD screen with 6900xt, i5 13400, b660 but game always use 100% of my CPU but hz drop to 3.90 nomatter what ... fpsdrop below 40but never consume even 70% of my VGA. So i though my problem came from CPU then i change to 5700x with AT4.
OK now game usually consume 91-100% CPU and don't stuck at 3.9 hz like i5 13400 but fps still drop to 34-50 in crowd place. Pathenic optimize, FPS always drop to 39-55 when i enter some place like market in dogtown no matter what setting i am

Crowds have little to do with GPU and a lot to do with CPU. This isn't just an optimization thing, it's just a computing thing. A lot of games have this issue. The more your computer needs to compute, the slower it will go.

Lower crowd density to something your PC can handle and you'll be fine.

Weak GPU for such computing power, you need to lower the crowd density, it's not game issue but user issue.

I did this and still getting 45fps, between low and medium does not change the FPS.
Hopefully CDPR will optimize the new update to make performance more stable with a future patch.

What temps are you running at you your CPU? if it's not going above 100% cpu usage and only 3.9ghz might be throttling.

Could also try checking your windows settings go to settings then system, power and sleep then additional power settings, make sure it's set to balanced or high performance and not power saver.

Would also help if you listed your in game settings remember if you are trying to run any ray tracing settings they can have a pretty big hit to performance.

Bit of an odd choice as well if you had a 13400, why go for the 5700x it's more of a side grade it's faster in some games, but in most games hardly any difference or in some games like Cyberpunk it's slightly slower.

better option would have been just to upgrade the CPU and go for a 13600/13700k instead.

Turn off raytracing or whatever it's called, it's pointless at this point in time, GPU's just aren't powerful enough for it yet.

Use the scaling options for the amd card in the options.

I have a 6800xt gpu and an 5800x cpu and I easily get much higher frames than that on ultra settings but I lock the framerate to 60fps cause I'm in a small room.

i nerver turn on raytracing, my setting on ultra. I setting difference than you a bit
i used intel slamping on ultra quality cuz its looks better, i don't turn off firm gain, chromaic, depth of field, len flare, FOV = 90

Try FSR quality instead for me at least the Intel one destroys my performance runs worse than native.

Also did you try checking your CPU temp? if you are only running @3.9ghz under load on a 5700x you might be throttling think it should be clocking up to around 4.4ghz.
I'm fine Dec 13, 2023 @ 9:39am
Dude, Same processor with Rx 7800xt. Cpu usage is almost always at 100%. Frame drops but not much, and the temps are fine. Do tell if you find a solution..

The recommended is a zen 4 CPU, I mean the 5700x/5800x is not bad, but horrible for 1%-10% lows. to be honest it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gaming CPU. it is normal to drop to below 60 fps with this CPU in busy areas. However you should be getting a bit better performance out of it, or is your fps high and only in busy areas it drops low. my 5800x CPU performance actually increased since 2.0 release and It doesn't drop below 60 fps anymore.

there are a few things you can check with the CPU: Are you using fast RAM at least 3600mhz CL14/16? and is it dual rank? even with xmp profile most RAM sets run 2T command rate and almost all good RAM can easily run 1T without touching the voltage. I can see as much as 20 fps drop in the lows just by letting the mobo use default settings vs xmp profile. Another thing is to set the infinity fabric ratio to 1:1. 5700x running at least 4.8ghz?

anyway here are my results from the benchmark CPU is running 4.9 ghz all core @ 1.25v with 3600mhz ddr4 CL14, tight timings and 1T CR.

It's a 1440p & 4K benchmark FPS in both is the same since the purpose of it is to show CPU performance; so by turning off ray tracing its gwaranteed 100% CPU bottleneck with my GPU, 1440p is using around 50-60% of GPU and 4K is using 70%-85%.

I also included test with RT Ultr & path tracing to show how FPS drops when GPU is 99% loaded & the bottleneck is shifted to the GPU

all benchmarks are run native resolution without DLSS or Frame generation.

edit: Also I would like to mention that running the game with steam overlay enabled in game lowers my 1% lows by roughly 20 FPS, turning it off also disables the screenshot ability that's why my screenshots are artwork made by print screen. I don't even launch the game thru steam anymore and just use RED prelauncher or directly from the .exe

edit 2: I'm not sure about the 100% cpu usage, I never have 100% CPU usage, on average maybe like 60-70% total CPU load. for you to get 100% CPU usage it would mean that all 16 threads would have to be loaded 100% all the time, almost seems impossible with any game or application, I do however get close to 100% thread usage, but most of the time only a handful of threads are loaded heavily and the rest jump around from between 40%-70% load depending on what is happening in game. Maybe check if some other program or scanner is not running in the background.

So with steam overlay off always get achievements with games mostly?
I bet most people have it on here? does use much fps thanks.
