Is V a Guy or Girl?
So i was listening to some cyberpunk lore on youtube and the video was going over one of the books, and it got me thinking. What Gender is V? Cause the game cover art shows V as female but the main trailers are always male. And V is a named character and Night City legend, so its not like they are some nameless protagonist. So conically what is V's gender?

some would say it can be anything you want it to be lol.. Male, Female, neutral, bi, etc..

I guess it depends on which sex you choose for it in the game & what role you wanna play..

You can even choose to have male-junk hanging on a female body, or a hairyfemaletwat on a male body... uhhhhh just like irl :taloslol:

Well, no i get that. But how would they refer to V in lore then? like if they had to use a pronoun would they just say They?

There is no official answer to this.
Besides what you've already said, some CDPR stuff has referred to V as 'she' thus giving some kind of 'clue' to what they may think. But that could be the article writer's opinion, not that of the lore.

You have to remember, Cyberpunk as an entire universe is a roleplaying game. I think that they left it ambiguous specifically for that reason. We aren't Geralt, V is designed to make startlingly different choices customized entirely by the player.

Hermaphrodite ya, But what is the pronouns? Surely the books dont just say "They" when talking about V. Actually it would be funny if V kept chaning their gender like Smasher changing bodies

V in the game
Male = Vincent
Female = Valarie

O i know of the table top side. Its just confusing because i dont know of any game that leaves such a big charterer ambiguous to their gender. Take mass effect. YOu can play both genders but Shepard is conically male

Traditionally PCs aren't referred to in Cyberpunk lore.

For example, the PC in the iteration of the TTRPG where the bombing of Arasaka Tower happens plays a major role, but they aren't ever mentioned or alluded to in 2077.

If V was ever referred to in future games or TTRPG editions, it would be the neutral "they".

I've only ever seen references to V as people just saying V. No pronouns have been mentioned in my experience. Although for the romances it may be implied:

Judy only shacks up with someone with a feminine body and voice,
Kerry Eurodyne masculine body and voice,
Panam masculine body,
River Ward feminine body.

V is a PC but she is canonical so that makes it much different. also have they refered to V as "They" before in a book?

Nothing is canonical unless Mike Pondsmith says so, really.
