Johnny Silverhand ruins the entire plot. A boring character that just tell lies.

I'm writing this hoping CD Projekt red doesnt appeal to a famous (and overrated - not bad - but overrated) actor to play VOICE ACTING anymore (the face is amazing tho').

Cyberpunk 2077's Johnny Silverhand... who doesn't love a narcissistic, self-absorbed rocker who just can't stop spinning his tales of grandeur? It's almost as if the entire game was designed to revolve around his outlandish ego, leaving the actual plot to wither away in the background like a neglected houseplant.

From his constant ranting about the good ol' days to his insistence that he's the only one who can save the world, Johnny takes narcissism to a whole new level. It's almost comical how he sees himself as the messiah of Night City, even when all he does is disrupt the already shaky plot.

In a game that had so much potential, Johnny Silverhand stands as a stark reminder of how a single character's overbearing presence can overshadow everything else. His relentless ego and penchant for deceit ultimately undermine the game's storytelling, leaving players wondering if there was ever a coherent narrative to begin with. Thanks to Johnny, Cyberpunk 2077 becomes less of a cyberpunk masterpiece and more of a cautionary tale about the perils of letting one character steal the show, leaving a trail of broken plotlines in his wake that are much more interesting than his own.

To wrap it all up: it's a lying character that adds nothing to the plot since most of the things he tells is fake, breaking the story's immersion and showing the basic writing of Cyberpunk's central plot. It's like tolkien ended up lord of the rings with a "it was just a dream" line, making the ENTIRE PLOT lost it's meaning.

not only me. 50% of people here hate him as a villain.
And not because he is a good villain. He is just boring and bad. Maybe in my teenage years i would like him because its keanu reeves but i'm grown.
Seeing an old man babbling about rock n roll and hating the world is just teenage drama.
Doesnt fit the plot of a game that has 18+ material on it.
I got some awards up there and they are enough to say it for me.

I think everyone hates Johnny when they first meet him, he tries to kill you after all.

But I find the ending where you actually take the time to understand him and his past and help him get closure and befriend him is some of the most interesting and heartfelt moments of the game.

I miss Jackie like everyone does, but Jackie is gone and was taken from us. I made a habit of calling his phone number regularly to 'talk' to him about our adventures. It really shows that V is struggling with letting go almost just as much as Johnny.

Silverhand really grew on me after multiple playthroughs and dialogue choices, etc. Dude is a broken mess, but even accepts your decision if you decide to off yourself - killing him alongside - instead of goint to the last mission, and has a really nice scene if you let him have your body when visiting the graveyard to bury, well, you.

Personally, keanu just genuinely isn't cut out for video games they should've stayed closer to the core rulebook of 2020 in terms of design. A discount david bowie stand-in with someone that actually has singing chops/va chops...Or, ya know get Daltrey from The Who

I think the most hatred to Silverhand comes from the point that you don't actually get to decide your faith in the end. I mean, you only have one end, just with now or in several months.
And the fact you can't just turn him off with meds or anything alike. I, for example, don't listen most of the things he says. Mostly because I have no interest in his story or his life. And believe he got what he deserved with being packed in crappy shard by people who are basically like him, only richer and more successful.

As a villain (which I consider Silverhand to be) he is extremly well written. As anything else, trash.

It's not anger behavior nor sarcasm, nor did you get in my nerves, now you're just making assumptions, please stop. Johnny isn't a bad character, I've explained why. You THINK he's one, and you don't like him, that's what's happening here.

I personally love Silverhand. His demeanor is amazing and it fits. Keanu definitely felt like a great choice, don't get me wrong, it didn't have to be Keanu but that was simply just the case. I'm not really sure if your playthroughs were somehow different, but when doing the later quests you could very easily see how Silverhand opens more up, starts growing as a person, caring more for V and overall becoming less self-centered. I mean think about it, there's a whole sidequest dedicated to him trying to somewhat rectify his wrongs in terms of his friends.
I get if people just overall don't like him because he's well an ass, especially in his living years and in the beginning though, even though i feel like there's more shades to it since yk he was in the depths of Hell known as drug abuse and so an so forth.

the drug abuse makes sense in a way. i guess the beggining felt really really empty.
maybe if he was younger it would be fine for me. The beggining of the game recalls me of that scene where Kylo Ren gets really mad and starts swinging his light saber all over the death star computers and starts crying. lol.

i was mixed about him but after this, he become good character imo. it's a slow burn. also i don't want to talk about lore outside of the game and stuff from the bored game and books but i will say "character that just tell lies" is logical for him and i don't want to spoil it. he is a unreliable narrator if you read things between the lines. i will give you a hint. silverhand in your head is based on his perspective. and everyone's view the world differently from their own prospective.....

losing a lovable character early on and being stuck with a narcisisstic rocker instead is the whole point of the game. ofc everybody can have their opinion, but its what they where going for. not every character the MC interacts with has to be likable. a game or any sort of media shouldnt be defined by how much it licks your *ss.

the way i see it, the plot of cyberpunk is about a dead man (or woman) trying their hardest to escape death by all means, but eventually all trails end in death, because thats how all the stories in night city end. there are no happy endings. the city will consume you one way or another because you never had a chance. and i think thats pretty cyberpunk.
