I don't know what men in dresses or nail polish has anything to do with the bladed leg cyberware. That was a weird tangent.
think it was the fact they have seen the guys wearing womens stuff, but never seen them wearing the pointed legs.
(in other words, if guys can wear a dress, why not the legs?)
thats easily answered tho.
it's due to the weight.
it's like V can say to the guy with the bad knee outside the church ripperdoc place in Dogtown.
the larger bodies of men can't work so easily with the slightly smaller cyberware designed for the fem shaped bodies.
V can tell them that the knee cyberwear needs to be looked at because of the wear it's going to be getting since he's a bit more bulky than the knee it was originally designed to work inside.
ya can make a dress or shoes bigger, but the cyberwear isn't as easy.
think those spike feet are call backs to the old 'exotics' we used to have in the 2013-2020 tabletop days.
you could get LOADS of odd things back then.
vanity, is one reason for them. but like Nar! said, step on someone and you are going to punch a hole in them.
think 'elephant in high heels' because the whole weight of the person is concentrated into those tiny spots that touch the floor.
even if the person is slightly built...thats a LOT of pressure in one small spot
Ahh ok ok. My apologies for the confusion.
Have you seen those Tyger Claw or Maelstrom females with the pointy lower legs? They look like thick knives and they balance themselves on sharp pointy ends. Like ballet dancers almost. :)
Here's a link to an example from Nexus mods.

Nor do high heels.
They have one sort of spiky part of it, but that's not the entirity of it. So they're bad, but not as awful as this
Originally without the oversized spike heels women wear now, they did. The heels were originally worn by men for horseback riding. Helped secure the foot into the stirrups better. But at some point they became a women's fashion and the heels got exaggerated.

well, i guess there isnt much behind the spider legs. You even see them on dancers in the water tanks in club afterlife.
The hi heels explanations seems legit as the spider legs reminded me of feet binding.
We see spiked feet but we don't get the furry exotic body mods. Someone's priorities were off. XD
Well, lore-wise the spike legs (or... ballerina legs? Since they walk like ballerinas on points) are easier to produce than the animal exotics.
Almost all of the animal exotics would have likely perished in 2023, since they wouldn't have the more heavy duty radiation shielding, were in the city centers Corpo district next to Arasaka Towers or at the nearby clubs at the time.
People didn't have time for furry fetishists after that. Too busy trying to survive, and the gang style moved to more Mad Max than Rodger Rabbit lol.
People scavenging what they can sell in the rubble are going to grab the survival cyberware from the dead first, bunny ear skulls or fox faceplates second.
Then we had a stock market crash, what little money was still around moved on.
Night City was originally abandoned by everyone (outside) but the nomads. Santiago and the Aldecaldo's saved Night City (the poorer citizens at least) by helping out. The other nomad clans helped too, and many more nomads were born that year.
They helped with housing by creating the container homes (the stacks in Dogtown are leftovers from then, if you want to get a feel for it)
Moved cattle and cargo to the City, so the population didn't go cannibal (well, most of the population didn't lol. There is always a gang here or there nibbling on people) and eat eachother.
When the stock crash happened, cargo companies went under, leaving drivers stranded in transit with huge amounts of cargo. Much of which was food or valuable products.
Which, if they didn't go raider from, they hauled arse to NightCity to sell. Some of those becoming nomads, if they were not already.
So, there was not much call for furry noses, bug eye optics, wolf teeth cyberjaws ect.
Even the rich had to tighten their belts a notch.
The cyberware producers slowed down. Concentrated on survival, haz-mat and cleanup or personal security and protection cyberware for years.
Didn't have the money to research or manufacture the leasure and pleasure department.
Now tho, since things got cleaned up a lot (2045 onwards) the rich started having time to be bored again.
Bug eyes are getting noticed again because of UsCracks, NeoKitsch gave us a glimpse of real fur (synthetically made, but real fur instead of our real world nylon fake fur) and gold (and gold plated, like Dex lmao) cyberware is back.
Money has been made, and needs to be spent.
Furry mods (in game modification, rather that game addition mods) will be back I expect.
It's just a matter of time before the ultra rich start ordering Dog-Man security guards (Doberman style or German Shepherds probably), Shark style Lawyers and PlayBeing's again.
(PlayBeings were elfish bunny fox girl/boy people with Mr Studd/Midnight Lady implants wired into their pleasure centers, and pheremone glands that made folks ahem...happy to see them *wink)
Game mod wise, there are a few exotics packages already, not just the one that turns Johnny into a Fox, but also Kerry, and some skin and cyberware packs too.
Also, for changing Johnny, you can make him into Chris Redfield, Hideo Kojima. Jenny Silverhand.
Look for Project 2020 to make him blonde and more tabletop looking.
Then grab one of the AI audio voice replacements.
I suggest 'Eric Cartman as Silverhand' since he already annoys you....
"Screw you guys..... I'm going to blow up Arasaka, then going home.."
