Shock Absorber
so i swapped out the default hand upgrade that vik gives us for shock absorber and was expecting to lose the ammo counter like in the tutorial stage, but didn't. shock absorber doesn't say it has real time data tracking for the weapon though, so what even is that, or is this just a bug?

then you maybe refere to the feature of the ballistic coprocessor:

"This implant links the user's weapon and optics, offering real-time data-tracking of the weapon's status and preview of ricochet trajectory. "

That doesn't include the ammo counter. The ammo counter is never removed.

i know several of the hand mods reference real time weapon data in some form. also you don't have an ammo counter till you get the mods from vik and in his dialogue he tells us that the hand mod would give us an ammo counter.

anyways. i realize that at tier 2+ you do get ricochet tracking. not what i'm talking about. at tier 1 it says the ballistic coprocessor offer[s] "real-time weapon info", which i took to mean the ammo counter that vik talked about while it was installed. if that's not what that means, then what does it mean?!

You are right, the ammo counter shows up after getting the eye and hand mod, but it is never removed after that point.
Vik's dialog simply ignores the fact that the eye mod is providing the hud which shows the ammo counter. The hand mod shows nothing, but maybe provides the necessary link.

Did a brief test and I can't see a difference on tier 1 between both hand mods.
It's just one of many inaccuracies in this game...

It was just the game's way of introducing a somewhat lore appropriate way to show UI elements.

If it makes you feel better, just imagine it is the eye implant giving it.

fair enough buddy. i was just thrown off by the description and trying to come to terms with the mods vik provided at the beginning and the description he gave of them. until i finally swapped one out now because i really wanted the recoil reduction i'd always waited till i could have it, and one mod that claimed to give weapon info because i took that to mean if i didn't have a "weapon info" hand mod i'd lose my ammo counter.

either way thanks for the info. i guess the weapon info line just doesn't do anything in game.

i would happily if they just edited the hand mods to remove the mention of weapon info and instead put that line in the eye mods.

The ammo counter basically ends up being a part of the default HUD. The cybernetics doing it is just the in-world explanation.
