Not in the real world. Cyberpunk ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, their chrome is awesome and unlimited. In real life your cybereyes would have ads popping up in your vision, subscription services or your heart turns off, your ears would deafen when they detect copyrighted music playing, ZuckerBerg would be recording everything you do and selling it, and ads would play in your dreams. Your cyberware would randomly shut down to install 'updates' that may or may not do anything beneficial, and make you re-agree to the terms of service. You'd go to the store and have pop-ups over the products on the shelf, advertising products for whoever paid for it, telling you 'don't buy THAT brand, buy THIS one!'.

Then one day, while using the computer, the data-logging can detect your finger movements and everything you're writing and sending it to a Trust and Safety team, and some obese blue-haired friendless pronouned otherkin would see you wrote something transphobic and suspend your account, permanently banning your use of cyberarms.

One my friend soon will get implant in his back, he was serious trauma not so long ago, we already have some kind of ear and eyes implants, yes that yet not return you 100% natural feature, but i guess in nearest 50 years we will get something alike/closer to ingame chrome possibilities.
But i think that all will be so expensive, that only our World most powerfull people will be access to such technologies.
AAAAA i forgot mention teeth implants, enough old tech we already use.
Also not forget - such tech will always be very dangerous, if any implant not adapt to your body, it cause very serious health problems, so, yes, it will be more and more possible, but in the same time it will be very dangerous and risky feature.

In fantasy world, where everything is possible without any consequences - I would choose double jump and kiroshi optics.

The elites won't go for cyberware for the same reason they aren't putting solar panels all over their mansions, selling beachfront properties at a loss, giving up steak in favor of soy burgers, foregoing air travel, and didn't get the real Covid vaccine.

I guess internals wouldn't be so bad. Like I wouldn't cut off my limbs but I sure wouldn't mind replacing my intestines. Not needing to take a ♥♥♥♥ would be amazing.

Or replacing my sinuses.

But replacing my eyes...fascinating as that might be...makes my stomach churn.

yes! This is my thinking. Kidneys, liver, lungs, there are a bunch of internal organs which could be upgraded or repaired that might just improve quality of life without becoming a cyborg monster-man (which might also be fun).

Isn't that what the poor preacher outside vik's clinic eludes to? Yeah he goes a bit "it's the lizard men!!!" but he does talk about companies like Arasaka watching you.
If you've got a webcam, someone somewhere has access to everything your doing...

..............put that away! :steammocking:

That's something they can't do due to Self-ICE (Provided the ICE itself is doing the job it's designed to).
You could argue the designers of the ICE could leave a backdoor for this, but that leaves them and their employee's open to the backdoor as well, which would be exploited by rivals or just people like Johnny...

Big risk security wise. No cyberware, no hacks...
Then again that Biotechnica woman in one of the Gigs has "unhackable" "protected" cyberware so i guess just give them that?

I would. Gorilla arms at the very least.

As someone born with a disability, yes, absolutely. The flesh degrades, steel endures.

Yeah I'd chrome! But I'm old school Cybergen. 2077 options are to limited to VidGame logic mechanics.
- For instance Nanotech, Bioware. Fashionware. Is barely hinted at in 2077 and certainly not part of the Game mechanics. Though many NPCs seem to chrome chosmetics.
---- Fashionware; Here are some options.
- Synthskin, Glowing lights, tats, readouts, and strobes, See-It™ Transparent Skin, Mood skin, Logo-Line Tattoos, HDTV skin, Turn on Nail patterns, Subdermal UI, Chemskin dye, (Want leopard patter skin?) Techhair, Biomonitor readouts, Nu-Tek...
- In the eyes; Shift Tacts (cheap alternative to expensive cyberoptics.)
=== Bioware; Nanite laced Bone and muscle, vat grown muscle grafts, self repairing skin weave, Nanosurgeons, Toxin binders, Bio engineered Boosted Antibodies (I don't like Edgrunner Cyberpsychosis immuno suppressor drugs game mechanics, They clash with 2020 era immuno boosting options.)
- In tabletop biosculpted, bodysculpted, facesculpted jobs are referred to as Exotics (Catgirls!) Instead of Just Dolls you can have Playbeings.
- Cyberoptics, Cyberweapons, Cyberlimbs, Cyberaudio, Neuralware,
- Implants; Motion detection, Radar, sonar, Lidar (Now the mini map makes sense,) Adrenal booster (Who needs drugs!,) Independent Air supply to make Dolphins jelly or better Gills! Dive 4 hours, Nasal implants (For filtering poison gas or boosted sense,) Subdermal pockets (When you need to smuggle stuff,) Voice Synth (When you need to evade cyberaudio lie detection,)
- Optis: Micro optic (See small stuff,) IR/UV Lowlight (Heck 2077 doesn't even give us flashlights >_<) Recorder, We got the HUD and targeting at least, sorta, Anti Dazzle (to avoid being blinded by flashbangs,)
- Audio; Lie detectors, Sensitivity boost, Bug detectors, Dampers (Anti Dazle and Dampers are a must against stun grenades we don't get them in 2077, but in tabletop! heck yeah.)
- Cyberlimbs: Swiss army knives for your arms.
- ok ok, there are suplimental books, and books for Cyberware, Bioware, & more. way to much to list.
===== My settup would be a mix =====
--- I'd want a pair of detachable Cyberlimbs under my ganic arms (4 arms.) And I'd Bioware boost my reg arms. I mean how often am I carrying stuff thinking. dang it would be nice if I had an extra pair of arms to open the door with.
- I'd "chrome" up with more Bioware than cyberware in most everything ganic. Keep things a mix of ganic and cyber light.
--- In my natural Bioware arms;
Grafted Nano Laced Muscle and Bone (Strength and durability wont match Cyber arms but that's what the extra pair of cyber arms are for.) Scratchers (Extendable concealable finger blades under the Nails. The Longer version are called Rippers. Scratchers don't need to much modification.)
--- In my cyberware arms;
Quick change mounts, (Lets you swap out the limbs)
myomar muscle strands (Basically gorilla arms.)
Reinforced, Emp and microwave shielded, Armored cover, Realskinn would just get shreded,
- A modular multi tool hand, Each finger is a different tool. 10 tools? Syringe injector, 1 inch monoblade, Lockpick, 1m Monowire, Flashlight, soldering torch, HP Laser pointer, Rotary tool (Dremel/Screw driver attachments,) & a vibrator (Duh.)
=== For Bioware i'd go with the usual wants, Nanosurgeons, Toxin Binders, & Bio-E Anti bodies. I'd go for some Skin weave witch is about as durable as Kevler, & just wear body armor for more armor. Dermal plating is just going overboard.
- My EMP threading will look like wiskers (That's the silver face lines you see on allot of the characters, it's like a fashion statement. But also can act like a Faraday cage.)
- I'd go with Cyberopitcs, But only in one eye. With Thermographic, Low light, Cam, Telescopic/microscopic, Infrared, Ultraviolet, Anti-Daz, Targeting Hud. UI, The other eye I'd just link in 'Shift Tacts' (Contact lense.) It's cheaper that way. & if someone hacks my Cybereye, I can just close it and keep using my ganic eye.
- Instead of the 2077 implanted Cyberdeck chip, I'd use a 2020 style portable Cyberdeck (The size of a book) A Combat Assault Deck in one of my Cyberlimbs. Holograhpic Keyboard backup, & UI interface, Voxboxer (Speakers,) Scanners, Chipreader, The usual.)
- I'd probably go with a 2020 style Neural Processor. rather than the 2077 style Neural Link for my Neuralware. It's old school. & honestly less likely to have corpo back doors. Same with the optics, I wouldn't go Kiroshi (You don't need top brand to get good use out of it.)

Yes no hesitation, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so screw my whack ass immune-system attacking my joints. Can't get inflamed joints if you don't have joints. :zagmad:

My dad's "chromed". He has a chip in his back that alters the stimulus to the lower back muscles. He was barely able to walk without pain before. It had to be configured for his movements before it would work. It took a month of recording impulses and tweaking the chip before it was working so he could walk for more than a few minutes.

We're closer to the technology than some might think.

As for me, I won't trade my arthritis for artificial hands. I enjoy playing music too much and just push through the pain. If it was a matter of being unable to walk without pain? I'd do it.
Obsessive Power 15 apr, 2024 @ 8:24
I'm afraid we've already started haven't we? Sure it's nothing like Cyberpunk and I think even in the future it won't be like Cyberpunk.

I remember seeing a news report (or something similar) where certain workers in a large company had the option to have a small chip implanted into their hand (Biometric implant) that allowed them to open certain secure doors, log in to computers without a password and use printers and stuff. Cool, but I don't think I'd want such an implant, even if I couldn't see or feel it.

There are also 'Cochlear implants' which can now help certain people with various forms of hearing loss. This kind of stuff I can understand though.

A week ago, I saw a news story of people in the U.S that were having their legs broken purposefully so that some type of metal could be added to their legs to make them taller. The guy in the news story did it to gain four inches. Why???
frried 15 apr, 2024 @ 8:26
I would not mind installing Sandevistan, Kiroshi optics and better cybernetic heart and lungs.

This was done in some companies here in Norway, I remember. They interviewed several people about it, who were very excited about the whole thing :rufusscared: If fact, it was some companies in the city where I live (Stavanger), where there are lots of large high tech companies (city is nicknamed the 'oil capital of Norway').

I've worked in several oil-related companies here, but I don't think I would get an implant to open the door and use the printers! :stop: Access cards and passwords works just fine... :steamsunny:

Implants like these I'm all for, though!

We are. If I recall, Elon has already chipped some guy. I fear at some point, it would be as Frosty's take:

Then again, for every era, there'll certainly be a pirate bay equivalent..i.e. hackers who'd provide their own firmware that'd bypass ads etc.
