So 1.62 is a straight downgrade for most players...
While I have to admit that Path Tracing looks amazing when it does, for most players this will unattainable for the next couple of years. Visual quality comes at a price and not many people can afford a 4090 and I reckon a lot of players will value playable performance over graphical fidelity.

For everyone else, the new patch reduced overall performance, introduced texture problems, frame drops when using the map / menues, frequent crashes, unability to launch the game at all, and even reproducable crashes in one of the final areas of the game. Also read about the update possibly breaking DLSS on Ryzen processors.
This is NOT an issue of drivers which I have updated, and it's not an issue with a corrupt install either - a full reinstall of the game was made.

It would have been a far better choice to release 1.62 as a beta branch update to iron out its issues rather than dumping everything on every player.

Just happy I only had a few things left to do before finishing my first run but even then it turned a great game into a test of patience and prayers to not crash. It sucks as I would actually like to check out the other endings and now I'm basically forced to wait until a hotfix rolls out to fix this mess or better yet, roll back to 1.61 in general.

Probably going to wait a few days before I'll be trying to downpatch...

Booted up just to check out the new ray tracing mode. The performance was as expected for my 3090 with it on. However, even with it off the game was running at average 24 frames (5120x1440) where before when I played the game it was a cool 50 fps average, very playable.

They seem to have expanded a bit on the types of ray tracing, after a few tweaks and a lot of testing I was able to get my system to run as before. With even more adjustments was able to get almost all ray tracing options maxed. DLSS or equivalent is a must if you have a capable card you should be using it. Ultra Performance DLSS was able to even clock 59 average with new Path Tracing mode DLSS upscaled to 5120x1440. The DLSS compromise was bad but it was definitely smooth.

Can't speak much about the crashes and fail to launch. I've been stuck just trying to get frames corrected.

this game turned into an expensive ray tracing bench marking tool

No real performance downgrade for me, but the graphics driver does crash after several minutes.:\

My game works pretty fine, though my main issue after the update is with photomode, that in photomode my V's eyes have this weird black flickering texture and sometime the eyes are completely blacked out. Does anyone has this issue as well? I assume it is a bug caused by cdpr as the entire photomode works very oddly after the update.

Graphics driver crashing is a hardware issue.

typically, a hardware failure results in manifestations of fullscreen artefacting, failure to output images, an inability for the host operating system to recognize the faulty hardware, an inability for vendor-specific software to interface with proprietary chipsets (i.e. crashing when attempting to utilize CUDA), or a literal bang-pop-fizz-puff-of-smoke

drivers crashing is due to errors with the drivers themselves

Uhm, nope, not always. If the software screws up and makes wrong calls that dump the driver into a loop, it can still crash without the hardware being at fault.
For me, it say planed patch for next thursday, but i cant start the Game before downgrading to 1.62
Hope they did not fix the money Glitch yet, since i did not finnish the "Get all vehicles" Achievement yet.
I just wanted to start the Game today 1 time before its too late, and here we are again..:steamsad:

Nope. An unstable OC/faulty GPU at stock clocks can cause driver crashes without any issues other than the driver crashing.

I cant even get into the game any longer without crashing

For the next patch - set you game up NOT to auto update and avoid all the hassle. I am still on 1.61 - I ignored the DLSS update and have ignored this one - as they both are (mostly) 4 series card specific patches.
The only cost is remembering to go offline on Steam before playing the game - and missing out on Achievements and play hours being recorded whilst offline - not much of a trade off.
I am still actively adding mods that I like - no real impact outside of the trade-offs mentioned here.

I am not OCing my GPU and have little to no performance issues prior to the crashes and have zero crashes during other games.
Pretty sure that narrows it down to it being on the game/driver side.

I was thrilled after previous patch. Finally really good FPS. After this, same settings, FPS fell. Sucks.
