Huge performance issues since 2.21

Hi. I have a great PC and have been able to play at a great render distance with large crowds through almost the entire game. Now I've come back after 2 weeks (played on 2.1 and 2.2 without issues) and find huge performance issues almost exclusively regarding loading the game: crowds don't load, sprites don't load, and the entire city has ugly smog/fog over it instead of rendering the distance properly (as it used to for over 90 hours of playtime).

I just want to downgrade to finish the game, or the game to properly load into RAM(my disk is kinda slow at times).

are you on HDD? no issues here on m.2 SSD

okay updating drivers and sleeping of all things fixed it. very weird. the fog/smog might've been a weather effect I hadn't seen before but the loading issues were very real. seems fixed now
