clothes don't need to be in inventory with Equipment-EX saved outfit feature
I was keeping hundreds of pieces of clothes in my inventory up to yesterday thinking Equipment-EX needed them in your inventory for saved outfit to track them and finally learned you don't need them

now my inventory is only weighted down by weapons, which isn't much sense I only use Standalone Masamune mod and Malorian stats fix and optional damage attack speed adjustment (CET) 1.63 [www.nexusmods.com] mod and a vanilla green assault rifle with 4 initials in it's title

I'm not a fan of the transmog/Wardrobe system, esp. since there are a number of actual clothing items that do have useful stats attached to them. However your strategy is not a bad one...it's just a matter of how you want to play the game.
The main difference is that vanilla wardrobe, you can dispose, disassemble or sell everything but the clothes on your back, and it still keeps the looks.

Where as Equipment EX, if you ditch them you loose the looks.
But yeah, your stash gets the weight.
I always save everything I like and keep them in my stash once I got Equipment EX to work.

(1.61 I couldn't get it working lol. So I know that feeling. Back then the wardrobe saves were in a separate mod called 'wardrobe extras' and it only gave 14 slots. That was enough tho)
