to use the new dlss just replace the dll files, do I have to set it from the app or both?
Once you're in the game, as long as you have the various DLSS/frame gen/RT options enabled, the game will use the selected DLSS version that you chose. It's that easy.
To do this, you can use Nvidia Profile Inspector and force Preset J for your DLSS. It's recommended to set this in the "Global" profile. Just Google the subject and you should see it discussed in i.e. Reddit.
right like this?
It's also possible to use DLSS Tweaks to get an overlay in the game confirming Preset J is indeed running, but getting DLSS Tweaks to inject properly into this game can be frustrating.
The differences are hard to see. Most people are simply reporting much better performance, especially when increasing the DLSS Quality level (in-game), usually not suffering any performance loss now by doing that.
Lastly, there is an even newer DLSS version now, 310.2.1.0, which uses Preset K. If you switch to this version, apparently Preset K is automatically selected. I haven't seen it make any difference in CP2077 from 310.1.0.0 / Preset J, however.
DLSS Model Presets==change to same settings for all dlss techs==Latest. You're done dude.
Mine is using the following in game after doing that as pic below.
DLSS FG=310.2.0
DLSS RR=310.2.0
DLSS SR=310.2.1
My files in cp2077 folder are 310.1.0

Now if you want to over complicate it a tiny bit to force model presets do as such;
DLSS Model Presets==Use different setting for each/scroll down to Super res and change it to A-F or J note latest is K
Now if you want to over complicate it a lot more download nvprofileinspector 2.4.0.8 it's the only version that works atm as it's the newest. You can then override 10 dlss settings. But you still don't need to download any new dlss files as nvidia will always do that for ya.
Now some games you can't override unless you change the white list which you can btw. But now we're talking ever more complicated. Ya i do them all. I probably should have not written these last 2 paragraphs. lol
meaning, if for a supported game like cyberpunk I don't enable DLSS Model Presets but only change the dll files what happens?
Is this what if I set directly to preset j?
because on cyberpunk there is the possibility to select ccn or Transformer, but on the other games no, or at least not from the game like cp
the only game I have installed in which there is obvious ghosting with dlss active is metro exodus ed.
by replacing the dll files with the most recent ones the problem was greatly reduced but still somewhat present.
However, if I go to set the preset via DLSS Model Presets the problem disappears completely.
therefore, replacing the files is no longer useful, it is useful but not as good as setting the DLSS Model Presets?
Yes, for supported games the app is better because just updating the files wont give you automaticly the new Transformer Model (except you use something like DLSSTweaks) but with the app you can force it by selecting the "J" or "Latest" Profile
