God, I wish they would stop updating this game so much...
I hate being negative about a developer actually caring about their product, but every time they release a new update it screws up my mods. Then I have to wait a week to get them working again. At this point, maybe just stick to fixing game breaking bugs. It's a 5 year old game.

Or better yet, maybe Steam can finally release a "Don't Upgrade This Game" setting then I wouldn't have to worry about it.

you know the devs owe nothing to 3rd party modders. modding the game is on you the owner. use mods at your own risk.

better yet, learn that you can set the game up so it only updates when you want it to.
educate yourself.

How do you set the game to do that? The best I can find is either editing the game manifest, which I had trouble getting working, or telling it to wait to update until you play the game and then running Steam in offline mode.

It depends.
Do you HAVE to start the game thru steam?
I mean 'absolutely positively 100% I'm Gona DIE if I don't have a perfect exact to the second correct played time' can't play without steam kinda thing?

If so, then yeah, your option is that you have mentioned.

Otherwise, you already have half the equation.
The 'tell the game not to update till I launch it's part
Go into the game files, find the cyberpunk 2077 .exe file, shortcut that on your desktop and use that to play it.

No steam, but you can run steam while playing it.
You can play with mods, no patching.
You can even just copy the whole folder to another (safe) location and play it there.
I know as I do it every time I play.
I'm still on patch 2.02

True, I can't add any extra mods. So I track them for when I do finally update.
And I can't use steam screenshots or the overlay to alt+tab to my conversations.
But that is still running in the background. I just hit the window key and mouse to the steam convo tab at the bottom.

i use like 40 mods and not 1 has been broken by the updates since 2.1

I really don't want to run it outside of Steam. Partly because it kinda pisses me off that I have to got through this kind of BS when this feature should already be in Steam. The other reason is I want the achievements and the other Steam features (like the ability to easily stream and save video, etc).

Really? No luck here unfortunately.
Mods are a choice.

I like the updates.
I mod now.

I still want more updates that'll tweak/fix/add things if the developers are of the mind to do it.

I can deal with the responsibilities that come with the choice to mod. If I didn't want to deal with it, I wouldn't mod.

I played the heck out of the game without mods. Now, waiting a day or two and updating things after a patch ain't a big deal. It's not even a bit frustrating. I got my 900 hours in already. Anything more is just for me now.

I recommend waiting to mod until much later if updates are so much of a hassle preventing someone from playing right away.
New update comes out, wait a day for mods to update, download updated mods, play.

you can still run the game through steam and pause updates. set the game to update only when you play, then turn steam to offline mode before you launch the game, it works just fine

Im sorry this time it took less then a day for the coremods to update. Not sure what you complain about. Had my 1300+ mod list up and running for my users in less then 24 hours.
I get it's frustrating that some people can't keep up the pace, but on the bright side at least the devs are always looking for ways to improve, I'd say we should feel a little grateful they didn't instantly throw in the towel on launch. Personally, I think vanillas good enough for anyone. Why does this game have so many "body enhancement" mods anyway, you picky freaks.

Weather control, time control, purchasable NPC-only glasses, various pose groups. They rely on other mods that I think people are collectively calling "core" mods. The "core" were all updated in less than a day after 2.21 and nothing else had to be updated for me.

Maybe I'm just not using enough mods to be so terribly impacted.

It's a choice I made to limit the number of mods I need to manage.

It will probably be quite a while before we receive another update. If you use Vortex to add mods, you can also use it to disable any mods that are hanging up your game until they are updated. Core mods are normally updated in a day or two. Also, you can create a mod profile to exclude problem mods, or run the game with no mods.

I hope they keep updating this game. It is beautiful and addictive fun. Play it without mods; you don't even need them.
