question about dlss 4.0 to provide clarity for everyone
So, i don't have cyberpunk, but i have other games that are on the dlss 4.0 list. and i've manually forced dlss 4.0 and transformer on star wars outlaws. and i've changed from performance to quality. performance is nearly identical to quality on my 1440p monitor. as in, performance isn't completely blurry.

i've been doing a lot of reading and that seems to be the consensus across the board. but, i see everyone here complaining.

so people who understand dlss 4.0 and the changes better, my question along with basically everyone who's confused is.....

for rtx 40 series cards obviously, does the new change just simply improve all of the dlss options, performance to quality, image quality?

I ask because in my experience with star wars, balanced and performances image quality is much better, its not a blurry pos mess. its actually playable. which, common sense says, performance gets better fps than quality. but if performance and balanced gets better image quality plus the benefit of increased performance, imho, if im correct, this is actually a big w, right?

Yes.

DLSS visuals are better in all modes and if people previously used Quality mode they will get more fps & a better image with the new performance mode.

If people had to rely on using performance mode in the past then they are at a loss now since they won't get that performance with the new transformer model.

I'm not sure how well the quality is on any resolution below 1440p though since most don't include their resolutions when talking about these changes.

Side note:
* Ray Reconstruction should be better now at the cost of performance
* Frame Generation uses less VRAM & gives more performance than it did previously.

IDK Why there isnt an "Ultra Quality" preset yet. If XeSS can have it why DLSS wont? Fact in Hogwarts Legacy this preset exists for DLSS. It'll be the ideal spot between Quality and DLAA.
i have a 4090 laptop and in performance mode i can get crank the game to all psycho settings with path tracing on and get at least 90 fps and i absolutely could not do that before. The funny thing is quality and performance mode look pretty much identical to me after the update with only ultra performance looking a bit worse, this is at 1600p. Yes dlss4 is 100% a big w

DLSS was poorly implemented by CDPR that is why DLSS 4.0 looks so bad with artifacts and smearing everywhere... Hope a update comes to fix all the problems but not likely...

DLSS requires 20xx and above.
DLSS Framegen requires 40xx and above.
DLSS Multi Framegen requires 50xx and above.

Lots of flickering/shimmering No Ray Tracing. Someone mentioned SSAO may have been the issue. I can't confirm yet. Ray Tracing is beautiful though. Ya i still have the odd black patches here and there that i've had for 2 years now with Pathing+RR.

But yes Temporal vs CNN uses about 5% more gpu for me. But a lower quality setting looks fantastic. Even performance mode is very usable. I'd not go below that. Used to be you didn't want to go below Balanced. It's a tradeoff that's quite worth it for once.

Then we have DLSS Framegen. Is it better or not? I think it's improved. Here's a Latency comparison i did. Note the PC Latency (PCL) bottom right and 3rd row. Tested at the Wraith camp as it's been and still is an area that greatly effects DLSS Framegen negatively. I have no idea why.

Results don't actually make sense. Not sure how with Framegen you'd have a lower latency. And note must use Fullscreen not Windows Full or latency will double with Framegen and feel horrible. Do note that with vsync Off latency was way better with Framegen Off. Maybe it's my pc or driver but results for me using vsync without framegen are really bad. Also maybe we need better tools for framegen now. But for this game i'm actually changing to Framegen now. It finally works amazing. And after seeing my electric bill earlier today i need to save some juice.

I just installed driver version 571.96. Let's see if there's more dlss options per application. ok no extra options that i can see. Now have quite a bit of ghosting and latency went thru the roof with Framegen on and felt slow. Might need to ddu driver and reinstall. Maybe try 566.36 or 566.45 as they were both fine.
