Where are the garbage trucks

Hadn't you noticed? All the garbage is in the streets and piled in various vacant areas. Garbage trucks gave up the ghost long ago.

They use flying drones for garbage. You can see them often around arroyo, one is even crashed in a house. Also, obviously, in the dump. You have small and very big ones. You have a very big one in the stadium of PL to.
One of the gig involve putting the target inside one of them for "evac", if you chose to not kill the target (the one about the biotechnica doctor who used nomad for experiment).

The poor just put it anywhere on the street there's still room.
The rich get it air lifted out, after which it gets dumped on the poor peoples streets.

There's also a street cleaner hangar in Night City. But you really only see one operating by the Biotechnica fields (when racing with Claire by your side).
Like Erei said, the trash and waste picks up are by flying drones. You see them up in the air and true enough, one of them malfunctioned and crashed into civilian's home. :p

climb the rooftops of some of the tall skyscrapers the lower rooftops are literally covered in trashbags some even have big garbage containers . seems like in night city u just kinda throw the trash where u feel like NCPD has better things to do than hand out littering tickets

hang out in Little China and Kabuki.
there is one that stops at the corner near the elevator down to the lower section, near the NoTell Motel.

i once jumped in it to move it, it was in the way of everyone's cars.

It's very likely Dogtown is excluded from the NC garbage collection network and use trucks instead. I mean, there is a crashed garbage barge in the stadium and dogtown doesn't play nice with NC.

It's not the lack of bin men that bothers me. You see loads of cops, Maxtac and Trauma Team buzzing around but the only fire engine I have seen in the game is a tattoo on Judy, where is the fire brigade?

If I recall, Wakako makes a comment about the upcoming parade, saying that all the city will end up with is a bunch of trash that no one will pick up.

Go to the Skyline & Republic fast travel point and you'll see an "NC Cleaning" sign. It's a garage where they have the robo-streetsweepers. Not many of them though.

not the whole city, just Japantown.
'and we will be left with trash up to our elbows that no one will collect'
explains that heaping pile of trash you have to jump around in to get one of the hidden gems there. they just pitch the trashbags into anywhere that's deep enough and leave them there.

there is mention of a bunch of firefighters that are *still* fighting a blaze, and some got killed in the news reports. maybe they mostly got drafted there?
but it could be that NC went the Anke-Moreporke way and ended up without much in the way of firefighters.

(see, once the citizens realised that 'insurance' meant if their place burnt down... they got a bunch of money....you get the picture XD the patrician stopped that soon after a couple of fires nearly took out a bunch of the poorer districts)
