Any way to start phantom liberty?
Like the title suggests I was wondering if there is a way to start the dlc on an already 100% completed save that was made before the dlc came out?. I have tried fast forwarding time and driving around the city for a good couple hours (irl time) or so already and no one calls and no mission or anything pops up on the map anywhere that I can see. Only thing I've found online so far is making a completely new save file where I lose all my current progress weapons etc just to get the dlc mission working.

If you have completed the Voodoo Boys quest, you should get a message from Songbird requesting you to go to Dogtown. If this isn't happening, go to V's apartment and see if it triggers. If not, try verifying your game files with Steam, then make sure the DLC is properly installed.

Thanks for the reply but I've already tried those solutions. I finished those missions a couple years or so ago and came back to play the PL dlc (better late than never haha). I just wish there was a way to play the dlc without having to reset all my current progress where I have everything maxed out (except for level as it used to be capped at 50 which apparently got changed to 60 or something at some point).
You might try downloading a save from Nexus that has progressed to the point where you can start Phantom Liberty.

Ngl I didn't know that was a thing tbh. Thanks for your help anyway but I think I'll try messing with things at the moment and see if i can get it working.
When you say playing a save "made before the DLC came out" would that also include "before the 2.0 patch dropped"? As in your entire save is pre-2.0?
If yes, then I suspect we have your answer as you would be playing a version of the game (from what I understand of it) that was made before the update needed to recognise the existence of the DLC, let alone run it.
This would also explain why you said you kept running into advice saying you needed to start a new, 2.0, game save.

Idk when 2.0 dropped but I did play through the game sometime around 2022 according to my earliest achievements so yeah probably did make my original saves before then. If 2.0 is when PL came out then yeah I played through the game before the dlc was even available to purchase. I have since made a new save (only played like 10 mins or less on it though so far) and man I feel super squishy and weak again but if there's no way to play the dlc through other means then I guess It's fine it just sucks losing everything that took me around 100 hours to obtain previously.

From what I've been able to tell from looking it up online 2.0 dropped about Sep 2023. Barely a month before PL also dropped.
The two were, very literally, made for each other.

As someone that's started a new character three times now (so many builds, so little time in the day) the squishy feeling goes away soon enough. I find the ball really starts rolling about level 10 (which also happens to be when you can get leg cyberware).
if you want to level up faster remember to get plenty of bed rest, as it gives an hour long exp bonus.

Yeah it's not the biggest of deals but definitely frustrating that I've had to start from the beginning again but then again gives me another excuse to put another 100 hours into the game haha :P. I need to get those achievements as an achievement collector :D. Also thanks for the exp tip. I noticed it a few times but didn't know why it was happening lol.

While you're at it, don't forget to shower regularly and (in apartments that have the option) drink some coffee before you leave.
They also give hour long bonuses.

At that point, he can just use ingame function that pop up when you start new game. It let you chose between regular new game or skip directly to DLC with some premade character.

I apologize if this sounds insultingly rudimentary, but I have a friend who this happened to and I had to work through it with him.

When you installed 2.21 and started your old game did you:

See Phantom Liberty on the load screen?
Did you get a message before starting about receiving a bunch of stuff?

After starting the game, did you get a sudden slew of messages?
In particular, one from Victor about new chrome?

Mixed amongst those calls should have been one from an "Unknown Caller" It will not show up in your messages. You have to go to your journal to see that it started Dog Eat Dog. My friend missed that and went to his messages to see rather than his journal.

Did you try to load a different save from before you went through whatever ending (presumably you ended the old game) you completed?
I'll just say this. When Phantom Liberty was released I used my old Legacy save, which is lost now, and it worked fine. That was on 2.0 though and there have been patches since, so I'm not sure if it would still work.
Not possible on a 100% save, and I don't think that the new game+ mods are updated yet. You can skip to Act 2 though, as a feature included in the Phantom Liberty DLC.

I was having motivational issues starting a new save, but with Phantom Liberty that all got taken care of with the skip ahead feature. If you want to boost your save even further, then you can also use the save editor on nexus.
