Question for Blade Builds
What do you do when you got a sniper from long distance (kind of rare) or drone flying around? Do you spec into snipers, pistols, etc as back up? Does throwing blades work well? I'm thinking of creating a katana and throwing knife build but I see some long distance or drones up in the air out of reach issues.

Blades can deflect, but also dash and air dash. I havent come across anything that was truly outside of melee range. Granted some required climbing, double jump helps with that. The flying drones dont actually fly very high.

If it is a concern, throwing knives can be a secondary, and probably very useful if you want to stealth, as those will be your solution to cameras.

Thanks, I was kind of thinking that but I was curious if someone had come across any major melee issues that was a pain.

If you spec correctly you can just leap at the drones with a charged melee attack and swat them out the air like a fly, pretty entertaining. At least that's what I've been doing for my current playthrough. As for snipers, just spec into the bullet deflection.

On top of the above points there's a piece of Frontal Cortex cyberware called the Mechatronic Core that makes you do more damage against robotic enemies available from level 1.
Useful if you're worried about trying to deal enough damage to them.

Mantis blades, if you use them, come with a built in leap attack. Effectively making you the bullet against flying enemies. Electrical being the best against robots.
I will say that mantis blades aren't statistically the best arms cyberware option, but they are one of the most fun :steamhappy:.

One of the weapon mods for throwing weapons, the Zero-G, is one that gets rid of their throwing arc, useful for using them at longer distances. Like against snipers, at least until you can deflect their bullets back at them.

Finally. In the few times when you are getting chased by drones in a car you will, like all the other times you are getting chased in a car and don't have a gun equipped, pull one out of....somewhere....(probably best not to ask) letting you attack the ones chasing you.
Otherwise I'd recommend sticking to bikes if you have the option, simply because you can use melee weapons while on them.

Work the arm rocket into your build.

Deflect, dash / air dash. Sniper dead.

and for reference, in case anyone asks, the body/gorrila arm build also works against flying enemies. Grab a body, yeet it. Seriously.
