I don't know if this solution will address your issue or not, but you could give it a try.

Once in a while (very rarely) the steering glitches on my bike. It doesn't turn properly and veers randomly. I get off and summon another bike. Then I ride for a ways and get off. Then I summon the original bike and the glitch is gone. Maybe this works with cars also.

Yeah I once had that happen using Jackie's bike. Just summoned another vehicle and used that for a while and eventually it went back to normal.

I hate how you press w, then unpress it, and the car just comes to a stop

Is your car damaged badly and the damage makes it turn?
Some mod is affecting your car?

You can always brute force your way across NC...

I would suspect a mod related to steering controls or a controller.

some non-gaming keyboards that matrix input can "lock" some keys, so once pressed, another key being pressed masks you letting up from it, though most keyboards even $5 chinese no-name ODM units avoid key jamming, but usually just letting off all keys and tapping the same key that's "stuck" makes it let go... shouldn't be just driving though, should happen while you're on foot too, if that was the case.

another thing is a controller being plugged in, if there is one configured, or a controller emulator where you are using mouse X/Y to emulate an analog stick, any drift or movement outside the dead zone can cause this.

with a gaming specific keyboard where all keys are independent and you can hit more keys than you have digits for are tracked for up/down state individually, this is way less of an issue than budget keys and built-in laptop keyboards...

i have noticed that the driving subject is very touchy. OK . there is a lot of complaining about driving. it is no easy. driving is not easy. it is a very particular skill it is so gratifying to get it. But it can be just fine. Just let go and then you will find that sweet spot. Driving is a great part of this game.
yeah but he's not talking about learning the exact amount of milliseconds to hold W/S to take a 90* turn without under-steering, spinning out, or losing control, he's saying he's getting spurious input that steers for him, and throws him off... no amount of practice is going to compensate for a ghost reaching over and pressing keys for you.

Did any one play Saints Row Lots of over the top driving . The driving in this game works just fine. I will make no more driving comments the driving in this game is just fine. Well i guess there are some anomalous things going on where it works differently for different players.

I use mouse and keyboard throughout, and have no problem.

Jumpers for goalposts, marvellous.
Was it on a road with patches of dirt? If you driving really fast on those roads, the dirt patches reduce friction on some of the wheels which causes the car to steer to the side.
