Maxtac mantis blades dlc only?
have killed melissa rory like 10 times, and even though she sometimes has the green X on the minimap, she's never had any loot on her.
Has anyone without the dlc managed to get the blades to drop from her?

*Edit:
ANSWER
Item is almost certainly DLC only. After several tests, seems drop rate depends on how you neutralize her (ie it will not drop if you use a lethal stealth takedown)
Lethal Stealth Takedown: 0% drop rate
Nonlethal Stealth Takedown: 100% drop rate
Kill in combat: 100% drop rate (may need more testing, only tried 3x)

I assume the item cannot drop without the DLC, or at the very least is extremely rare, because I killed her dozens of times with variations of the above tests and obviously did not see any drop.

As near as I could tell it's either:
A) You have to both kill and loot her within the store itself without either of you leaving it.
B) It's just bugged these days and the only option is indeed the one in Dogtown.

To date I have yet to "git good" enough to pull off option "A".
Just to clarify, when you say "without leaving", you mean after enabling weapons by stepping outside right? As far as I know, you cant pull out your weapons or do stealth takedowns if you dont take a step outside of the shop.

What i've been doing is sticking my foot outside the door and then killing them all. ive tried stealth kill, stealth knockout, and full on rampage, but so far none of them have resulted in a weapon drop. Online ive seen some claims that its dlc only, and so far I havent seen anyone mentioning that it dropped while not owning the dlc, so im thinking this is likely the case.

I'm also noticing that she doesn't always have a green X on the minimap. I'm pretty sure only corpses with loot show an X on the map, right? If that's the case, given that she sometimes does have the green X but no loot, I'm thinking it's further pointing towards it being DLC only

Yeah, once guns (or whatever you use) are out I'm pretty sure by this point you both need to be in the store.
The one time I did take her down and it showed loot on the body I couldn't collect. My assumption for this was because I left the store before I could try to loot her (due to a case of low health and exit, pursued by a lot of bears).

Also, yes, "X"'s on bodies mean loot, with the colour generally donating rarity level.
Looking at the wiki it's both "only a chance to drop" and because I left the store early :steammocking:.

The DLC on the other hand is a 100% chance, if you pick the right options.
I just bought the DLC, it dropped on my second try.
First time, I used a lethal takedown on Melissa. Green X appeared, no loot.
Second time, I used nonlethal takedown and the blades finally dropped.

I had seen on reddit that many people claimed nonlethal was important for the drop. Hard to say from just these two tests, but they may have been right.
Based on this, I'm going to assume this was indeed a DLC only item.

As a curious sidenote, AI was sooooo much easier and less aggressive after getting the DLC. not sure if a weird coincidence, but I did this a LOT of times last night, and they were kicking my ass lol. In these two attempts after installing the DLC, they all just kinda waited around and watched me.
I just did some testing. Around 15 attempts with nonlethal takedowns, around 10 attempts with lethal takedowns, and 3 attempts just killing her in combat.

Test type / Times dropped / # of Attempts / Drop Rate
Nonlethal / 15 / 15 / 100%
Lethal / 0 / 10 / 0%
Combat / 3 / 3 / 100%

Confirmed this is definitely DLC only. You cannot use stealth KILL to get it, either need nonlethal takedown or kill her in combat (unsure about incapacitate but I assume thats fine too).

Here is a video of these tests, covering around 5-6 nonlethals, 5-6 lethals, and the 3 combat attempts. (in the first combat attempt its very hard to see but the moment she goes down (a second before I do), you can see the loot on her corpse for a moment.

Only DLC? And before patch 2.0, they were in the original game, Facepalm.
Thanks for the test.

Out of interest why is everyone obsessed with these things?
Even before 2.0 they were just the default physical damage mantas blades, but with a blue(ish) finish.
If you want blue mantas blades the electric ones both look better are are far easier to grab.

Or is it more of a "collecting stamps" type deal? That one I can understand :steamhappy:.
