Disasterpiece! Is there a fix?
I got this game at launch and put it aside so it could cook a little longer. I am playing now on my Christmas break from work. I own the Phantom Liberty dlc and I've reached and am trying to do the quest "Disasterpiece".
The game's freezing up and having major graphical and audio glitches as in, some roads disappear, the mouse cursor/gun reticle disappears, and sounds are disappeared/muffled. When this starts I am forced to use Windows Task Manager to kill the game. All of this started on the ride with Judy, after the braindance scene in the van, on the way to the next area(choosing to ride w/Judy). I was eventually able to meet her in the van, at the next point in the quest (by shutting down the game with task mngr) where Judy is waiting for me, by fast traveling to the south of the quest marker and running northwest towards her van. After speaking with her in the van, I get out and jump on top of the gate building with doublejump to enter the area. As I get into gated area, things go haywire again. Some sounds are freezing/muting again, the gun reticle, and prompts like "F" to interact near computers ect are gone, and parts of the main building are also gone completely. At this point I can't even load a save, I have to kill the process. I will also mention that there are no enemies inside after killing the five or so topside. I am at a loss. No mods have ever been installed for this game.

Here are my pc specs (everything that can, has the latest updates):

Windows 10 Home OS build 19045.5247/ Version 22H2
Intel i7-9700K CPU
Nvidia RTX 2080
32.0 GB Ram
4 GB M.2 SSD

You check the forums, and realize you are the only one experiencing this issue. Everyone else is happy and can play, enjoy and finish the game, and yet you do not grasp that this issue is something wrong on your side (otherwise, there would be literally thousands of posts about it) , and write a wall of text on how this game is bugged, bad and unplayable, again, without realize, this is something on your pc.

hmmm maybe you set too high ingame video settings. 8gb of vram I think is very ok for ultras at 1920 x 1080.
Did you try Steam file verification?
Did you try set ingame most lowest video settings?
If yes, then did that change anything at all?

I never said any of the things you say here except that I can't continue with this quest. If I ignore this quest(which I did for many hours) and play the rest of the game, I haven't had any other issues. I certainly don't think the game is bad. What the hell? I try to be detailed in hopes of getting an answer so I can continue the quest.

I just installed last week so I did not verify the files.
I'm at the "High" gfx settings. with 1080p (monitors native)
I will try all of your suggestions.

I would try, if I would be in your place. Its at least worth to try, if it will not help, its at least will be point to start search any fix.
I was few times when I use file verification and it give results, but it was after some game updates.

Or something related with your faulty audio device?

The audio device is something I didn't consider. It's an integrated sound card(on the motherboard). I'll look into that as well. Thank you.

excellent post that could be applied to a large number posters that come to the forum and complain about the game without coming to grasp that the problems they are having is actually with their computer or with their graphic settings. thankyou

Yeah the game completely broke on the last update... Most people just revert to the older Cyberpunk version to keep it playable.

So... Determined to try all of these suggestions, one at a time... I chose to start where honestly, I least expected to find a fix. The reason I didn't expect this was the culprit, and shrugged it off as my potential issue, is because only just a few days ago, I actually installed the game to play. So, anyways.. I started with verifying the game files. Apparently somehow I was missing 6.1 MB in files. I fired up the game and got thru the quest without issue. Awesome! To be clear, I had never been in the files rootin' around or anything. Steam just didn't download everything I guess. Couldn't be more simple. Thank you to everyone who gave suggestions. Just goes to show you, no matter what, start with the simple yet effective "Verify Game Files".

Happy New 2025! :)
