Optimal settings for my Rig
I'm looking for settings that won't kill my machine or it's internal pieces.

My specs

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RTX 4090
32 GB RAM

I'm playing on an Ultrawide AW3423WF

any suggestions would be helpful, thanks in advance.

You're not using an Intel machine so you don't really need to worry about that, just don't overclock beyond factory settings any you're fine.

This tells me absolutely nothing and it's what I asked about.

If you're worried about overheating, just make sure your PC case has good airflow and cooling...the game does crank up CPU activity. You might want to install something like TechPowerUp GPU-Z to keep an eye on temperatures.

But nothing about this game is going to 'kill' your hardware...it sounds like a great, high-powered setup. If you're happy with your graphics quality and frame-rate, you should be good to go. If you feel like it, you can tweak your graphic settings and run the test to see what difference it makes. I like to turn my crowd density down to 'medium' just so V doesn't have to elbow their way through crowds of NPCs, even though my 4080super can handle it on 'high'.

720p, medium/low settings.

Maybe keep lowering settings if the frame rate is too low for your liking?

Good luck!

Depends on what you want. Idk how 4090 compares to 4080 but my 4080 struggles with 60 fps 4k with raytracing/path. I run DLSS + that ray trace optimization mod using the hybrid setting. Seems to be best middle ground. I lowered shadow resolutions/range a little... I basically have everything max.

Framegen seems to be worthless. For me it lowers real framerate. Mod i have shows real frame rate, frame gen lowers it by like 15 fps. Way I see it is if your fps low or avg is like 80+ fps frame gen makes sense on high refresh rate displays (Although im not sure if it has a added input lag by being active). So you would have like 60-70 fps real then like 100-120fps fake that you see.

Fog setting ingame applies to granade/fire/smoke effects so you need it maxed. Even on max quality isnt super amazing. Honestly the game is kind of C tier in terms of optimization + visuals. The absolute top notch game thats openworld + visuals + optimization is Batman Arkham Knight. Terrible launch but its a REAL technical spectacle I dont really feel same about Cyberpunk since to achieve similar wow it needs path tracing.

Also I got AW3225QF very similar display.

As long as everything has been installed properly and you have a decent case and cooler just it crank it up max settings path tracing enabled DLSS set to quality or balanced.

Enjoy:D

Is 4090 actually that much stronger than a 4080?

He'a only doing the benchmark runs in this comparison but 1080p, 1440p and 4k if you want to watch the whole thing he tested quite a few other games as well.

Really recommend the guys Chanel

I guess its better for me just not double price better. I look forward to 60 fps 4k native path trace. I do honestly think the path tracing is mostly useless and with just more dev time same visuals could be achieved. (outside the non screenspace lighting and reflections)

I use a 3080 and have everything on ultra /ray tracing (not path tracing) with 60-120 fps with my cpu bottlenecking my gpu. 1440p. You’ll be fine.

@OP

Temperature is what you need to worry about the most. So long as your GPU and CPU are operating within the recommended temps when at full load (Google your hardware), you'll be fine.
If your gear is overheating or operating at temps that are a bit too toasty for the specified hardware for too long, then you'll have to figure out how to circumvent that with stronger cooling solutions, like a better water cooler or fan block, larger tower, airflow etc.

Remember, it's really all about temps here. Not so much about pushing the boundaries of your hardware.

Thats the problem prices are and if you think they are bad at the nigh end now you should see the price rumours for the RTX 5000 series...
