Valerie definitely sounds better. There's much more range and emotion to her voice. But to me Vincent sounds like he's a little baked.

My main problem with the male V voice is that it really only works for a Streetkid V.

Male V is also great for nomad, he does not fit with corpo at all. Neither does the female VA for that matter.

I actually really appreciated my male V run as a Nomad (2nd playthrough). Gavin really sold me as a nomad character. I thought he fit pretty well and I can imagine he runs well as a street kid too. He does deliver his lines differently from Cherami, but that's also what makes it great. It's different and it sort of helps make some of the moments you encounter a bit unique.

Well, depending on how you hear it, of course.

Gavin's voice acting isn't bad. It's just not as good as Cherami. Her voice fits well with all three life paths. There's more range, more emotion and an edge to her voice. Even aggressive.

Gavin's performance however just isn't as versatile. Don't get me wrong, when he does get emotional, it's good stuff. But most of the time he's laid back and sounds somewhat baked. When angry or aggressive, it still sounds kind of laid back. Fits nicely with a nomad lifestyle but I can barely imagine that attitude after growing up on the streets of Heywood or born into the corporate world. It just doesn't really fit.

never played male V so cant really say i like or hate his voice but female V is ecstasy to my ears, shame her voice quality isnt as good in the expansion not sure whats up with that

Maybe because you associate yourself to a women's voice more than man's voice. Like how women associate better to men's voice than women's voice in video games. It's all about perspective and I find Gavin's voice acting fine a bonafide stoic badass with internal trauma issues compared to Cherami's sassy femme fatale with internal trauma issues.

They're both good and I don't recall men being more emotional in their dialogue compared to women. So saying Fem V is better is flat out wrong in the grand scheme of things since Male V is still good for the role he plays. Much like the 2 Commander Shepards.

Probably because you know who Keanu Reeves is and he's a very attractive and charismatic person?

A lot of people overlook Johnny as a character completely and simply like him because he looks and sounds like Keanu Reeves.

the bottom line is... when i listen to male v, i can see a voice actor in the background reading lines. thats bad, especially when i have to listen to the main character for the entire play. im done, let this thread sink.

It's just dialogue really and the personality associated with it. V is just a blank canvas in some of these but as I mentioned before, it is perspective.

Some people find Fem V obnoxiously annoying and Male V to just being a very cool guy whereas others will find Male V too boring while others see Fem V as a fun girl. There no right or wrong answers here anyway.

Though I have to admit, Fem V's VA is definitely better because she is a more experienced VA whereas Gavin has far less experience by comparison. Although I do prefer Male V's Voice because it just suits him really well.

It's not monotone that bugs me about male V. Its that he sounds like he's trying WAY too hard to sound hard edge and tough but failing.
