For pistol its Cool
I don't know what you mean by ''short'' weapon.
Body = Shotguns, LMG, Health regen, Blunt weapons
Reflex = Assault Rifles, SMG, Movement, Blade weapons
Tech = Grenades, Healing, Cyberwares, Tech weapons
INT = Quickhacks, Smart weapons
Cool = Pistol, Sniper Rifle, Precision Rifle, Stealth, Throwable weapons
For money, kill gang members and sell their weapons.
Look into your Skill-Tree Overview and check what the individual Skill-trees improve. Then pick the one you like. The Skill-Trees have 2 different systems. Attribute points raise the general level of the tree (blue points). The yellow points are for unlocking skills within the tree.
In the bottom right, you find a "passive" skill tree, that give additional benefits for doing certain stuff.
For money..... play the Game, sell the items/weapons that you dont want/need. Higher versions of Weapons obviously sell better.
For Knives you'd also want the Cool Tree, with the options on the far right.
Katanas and the "big claws" by which I'm pretty sure you mean the Mantis Blades (see link) you'd want the Reflex Tree, with the options working for both on the right. Mostly. The ones up the middle of Reflex can help get you into (or out of) melee faster.

Shotguns are located in the Body Tree, with their options on the left. Though they can still work without help from skills so long as you get close enough
And you'd already be running about with Pistols, knives and a katana with only slots for three active weapons at a time (arm chrome like the mantis blades don't take up a weapon slot).
I can think of ONE downside beside the time consuming search for your personal favorite Weapon. Many Weapons either have installed Mods (for example a mod for Shotguns that enhance its ability to remove limbs) or an empty slot for such Mods. Sadly, the Developer removed the ability to change these Mods. Installed Mods can NOT be removed.
So be careful what you install yourself or look for a so Weapon blueprints. With these, you can craft a new, Mod-free weapon.
The Game gives you alot of options to build your Character and how to neutralise Targets :D
Some neat Weapons (or special clothes and Cars) are not part of the Mainstory. They can be found in Sidequests or by exploring the Map. Even with Mainstory Quest, the curios Player can sometimes find unique Weapons.
Im sure you will find something :D The good old double barrel shotgun is also in the Game ;)
