Replay the game but choose either the Nomad or Corpo, each origin has differing reasons why you're friends with Jackie with Nomad being the best one to show how and why he and V built up such a friendship.
Though i do think having to have Jackie with the Corpo life path and Nomad life path kinda sucks....seems lazy to me just to have every life path stick to him i would have preferred close relationships with characters that suit that path...same outcome them dying in some way like jackie does now yes panam suits one of the paths and thats a close relationship but the formative beginnings does annoy me a little just being jam packed to be close with jackie imo he doesn't fit with anyone but the street kid life path.
But they were strapped for time on most things and also had crap management so that's most likely why they didn't expand more on the life path's actually having in depth path's that are tailored for that said life path.
Either way i love jackster but yeah in my corpo one for sure i don't even bother with anything to do with him once i get control same with panam for my corpo life path i just ignore her. i'm more willing to accept jackie in the nomad one cos the story actually seems fitting with V being new to the city n such and doing that job...it didn't really feel out of place to me.
Yeah, I've only played my one corpo save so this is the first time I'm hearing about Jackie holding the player V at gunpoint. So I guess from that perspective it isn't hard to see why OP wouldn't like him.
From the sounds of it, I'm glad I chose corpo all around.
1. He didn't get the cops involved, you did. It was you that triggered the alarm with the cheap tech you got.
2. You become friends because you are both Heywood kids and you decide to work with each other as you are already a friend to the bartender who works for his mom.
It is pretty clear you played Streetkid without looking into any other start.
As a Nomad he planned to ditch you as soon as you crossed the boarder and take all the money for himself. He changed his mind and let you stay at his home for some time.
As a corpo you meet him during a mission gone wrong and he saved your life. After you got a hitjob and was discovered he saved you again and brought you back on your feets.
You can't play without Jackie, but I think your problems are somewhat unfounded.
The game showed me Jackie and I had been through a lot, it showed me that we trust each other and care about each other. It was more than enough for me to be able to feel his loss. In fact, for me the real emotional payoff came at the funeral, which did a great job showing how a cold and uncaring city like Night City still has enough humanity to mourn their dead.
Yeah allot of people have complained about the 6 month time skip, i noticed allot of youtubers have the same feeling too, generally time skips that tell you about a connection is less desired rather than letting you go through things with that person feeling that connection is more accepted and wanted.
This complaint i noticed allot with some of the assassins creed games (yes quite a random reference) it seems most people prefer to have a chance to actually go through things and spend more time with characters in order to really care about their deaths or even care about that character in the first place.
I see this across all mediums not just gaming, especially with TV shows....people's biggest complaint when there are time skips for characters or not enough focus on characters friendship or connection with the main character of the story is met with the audience largely saying they never cared about such and such's death....though personally whether a time skip is there or not i'm still able to connect with any character in games, I think this is because i like role playing allot so i don't really need to spend actual time with a character to emulate the feeling of a close connection...if its written in the lore or story I'm able to immediately connect with that character but yes the majority of people feel like they need some real time with characters to care about them and most people won't read the back stories of those characters.
The game does actually inform you allot on V and Jackster's relationship somewhat but you have to kind of explore a bit and not really rush through the intro part.
As it is now I never really liked him. I found him annoying, obnoxious and a dumb meat shield.
When he died I was like "Free Bike"
lol
