Judy VA - accent. It's bad :(

Overall it's a great game and I've got few complaints about it, and I may be alone in this - Judy's accent sounds artificial and fake. Comes across as an attempt to sound cool, but fails miserably. Can stand to hear her. One of the very few gripes in the game.

My problem with Judy's voice is it's too nasally. She sounds like a latina version of Fran Drescher from The Nanny.

The VA is not hispanic and you notice straight away, same with Carol from the aldecaldos, tries accents, fails miserably. On the other end, Jackies VA is an hispanic guy and you can tell straight away, it comes out effortlessly, talking, cussin, anything.

Lot of VA work is subpar (Saul, yikes), and stuff like Panam just sounds like she was written in a completely different language, nobody speaks like that, much less in cyberpunk. She cant even get the "preem" right.

Well it could be in terms of ancestry or somethin of the sort, i dont claim to know, but shes clearly been disconnected from birth, or most her life. Listen to Jackie interacting with Corpo V when we decide to toast "to this!"

Thats a fluent spanish speaker, he slides all that in there zero effort. Judy on the other hand is reading from a piece of paper the whole time.

edit: video also a reminder of another terrible VA job, Claire. Judy really is just the tip of an iceberg.

This! She made a really terrible first impression with that voice when I first met her. I could barely stand it, and I dislike it to this day. She also talks too much, which doesn't help.

Yea, there are several things off with Judy's accent. The thing is - I'm no english speaker myself. I can tell Jackie is doing a fantastic job and seems authentic as a Latino/Hispanic, but I don't think Judy not being a real hispanic is what bothers me. It's in the future. People could sound slightly different, I can buy into that. ...just not what Judy comes off as.

I just started my second playthrough and I was immediately reminded of how bad her accent is. It may not be the VA's fault either. It may just be she had too many boxes checked for what someone wanted her to sound like.
