Dualshock 4 No Longer Supported?
I've been playing with my PS controller since I got the game and the prompts always showed the button scheme for PS but I just tried to play the game and suddenly it only shows the XBox buttons? I've tried going into Big Picture, exiting steam, restarting my PC, going into properties of the game and adjusting the controller options. I don't want to install a mod if I can avoid it. I think this was an issue for some other players on and off since the game released but idk man.

Might be a bug on either cd Projekt red or steams end. I play the game using epic and haven't had an issue with my PS4 controller.

I was having this same issue and it just started today, it was pissing me off so i looked into controller settings on the actual game from steam, just go into your library go to the cyberpunk game and manage properties, it'll show controller and disable steam input, I sat here frustrated for hours but saw this while looking just again recently to see if anyone else had the issue/fix one last time before i looked into it again. i hope this helps you as it did me!

I tried that and unfortunately it didn't work for me, I'm happy that it worked for you though!

It should work. Many times it helps with weird controller behaviour from whatever games. A GF of me keep having weird issues for a long time until i asked her to disable Steam input and she no longer have any issue.

Please check again if it is set at disable while no one game is running on the background. Eventually restart PC.

Steam input is fine for old games, but should not be used for modern games.

Or, when disable didnt work for you, even you tried it again after my comment, then force to enabled (so not disabled, not standard).

This also happened to me and I went into Steam Settings > Controller and set Playstation Controller Support to "Not Enabled". This worked for me. This also worked for me for Tales of Arise as well so I think it is something updated on Steam that is causing this.

Yep, this.
Steam settings > Controller > PS controller support off, CP 2077's specific controller settings "default" , that should work.

Also, it is due to a steam update. The gist seems to be: They changed something, in theory controller support got better, but now every game dev needs to set a flag on their game(s) if they natively support PS controllers.

its just a new steam feature, it just means it doesn't have proper support, it never had dualsense/shock support, the only reason the controller works is because of Steam emulation

if you booted this game up on GOG it just wouldn't work on a playstation controller, this is why I only use steam

also the game has never shown playstation prompt buttons
there's a mod for it https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/463

Well, good that my game doesn't know about that and does indeed show PS buttons. Even when running the game without steam.

Thank you! I was so pissed about this, dualshock was working fine last week and still showing the normal Playstation prompts like usual. I couldn't figure out why it was suddenly bugged out.
Not sure why some of the people are trying to say it never showed PS prompts, it always has for me. I only started playing after the 2.0 update though so can't vouch for the original version.

Same here, I guess it wasn't always like this. That mod's gotta exist for a reason.

I'm happy to see I'm not alone with this issue! A few days ago I was playing the game with PS button prompts in-game and all of a sudden when I opened the game, it was Xbox. Gonna try the tips here and hopefully changes it back

I just started playing a few days ago, never played before 2.0.
I plugged in my PS5 controller to try driving, and voila! rumble of engines in my hands! PS5 icons on screen!
Next time I booted up, it was showing no PS5 prompts, and no haptic feedback.

I disabled Steam controller support, and I'm back to showing the controller in setup, correct icons etc, but still no haptic feedback after that first time.
