Pop in is really bad now
I reinstalled a few weeks ago and have noticed that the pop-in of buildings and highways, walls and stuff is really bad now. I have upgraded my pc since playing last and can even run the game with path-tracing on around 30fps, but no matter what settings I use, the lowest or maximum of the max, the pop-ins of buildings have gotten extremely bad. I'm driving through night city and I'm watching road-barriers on the highway spawning like 100m in front of me.

edit: because you all parrot each other in every post - it's installed on an NVMe.

2.0 made SSDs a requirement.

So. Is your game installed on an SSD?

Yeah, even back when the game released I suggested installing on an SSD. Nowadays an SSD is essentially a requirement for games like this and other large open worlds.

SSD is for basic chooms, M.2 all the way.

However, say for the mission where you help out a choom with his penis aug if you have your camera zoomed out in the car, you can see the event traffic spawn in to block you.... they probably should fix that

There is bad pop in regardless even with mods it doesn't improve much, they also seem to have messed up a lots of prebaked lighting and other stuff with update 2.0, sadly there isn't much that can be done.

Haven't noticed any pop-in.

I had pop-ins a lot on HDD, moved to SSD (M.2) and only got problems with 'regular' bugs. Likes burning cars spawning on the street, that explode, and the driver.... is STILL ALIVE holding the steering wheel while looking around. But on HDD, I could wait for a car to spawn that I needed to trail, or did not see the cars in a race on start

M.2 drives are still SSD.

There is only a distinction between an SSD and M.2 but no difference.

What's the difference between a chihuahua and a dog? There is no difference. Only a distinction.

apparently if you drive in first person mode while forcing an fov above 80 or 85-ish pop in will get really bad. seemed to be true when i tested it, but idk if its a real thing

I don't care that "most" are wrong. M.2 slot can be used for other kind of devices as well (wifi for one), so your post does not make sense.

A SATA SSD will stream in game assets just as fine as a M.2 will.
The only difference a M.2 will make over SATA is actual load screens.

M.2 is just the form factor...

NVMe is the term you folks should use if you want to compare it to SATA as even SATA SSDs can be M.2, just saying...

Technically correct.
Which we all know is the best kind of correct.
