I don't believe there is a canon yet. As I haven't seen any novels or other media that have used the character. If we say that early marketing material was the canon then I guess male street kid.

female V is best V
Bogmore Jun 19, 2023 @ 2:12pm
Both are canon.

Male V was shown first so I assume and hope that if one has to be cannon than I hope its male V .

Male V is the real V

The name is Vincent/Valeria.

Considering that having JS in a female body is funny as hell (him being him), i think both are valid.

There's no canon for V, or canon story, no. Female V definitely offers an interesting subtext to the Silverhand relationship The chat in Pacifica has a line making it explicit and adds another layer to V's choice at the end.

Vincent or Valerie actually.

Tho a lot of us use different names starting with V.
I use them to separate not only different versions I play, but different paths, play style and save games.

(I have two save mods. 'Filter saves by lifepath and type' which let's you cycle thru the three lifepaths with 'Q' and thru save game type with 'E' keys. Very useful if you only do one save per lifepath type....but then when you want more of your fave lifepath, how do you see the difference? 'Named saves' is the other one I use, this let's me name manual saves. So I can have as many as I want of the same lifepath and not get them mixed up. So, I have 'Viki Mox' who is a Mox theme streetkid, and 'Vinnie Punch' who is my ginger boy streetkid that just gorilla arms punches things lol)

Having said that, I hope they don't make a 'cannon' V myself.
As much as I'd like that on one hand, it makes everyone loose out, because they wouldn't just stop at 'its female V'.
They would then have to choose which lifepath (and probably which ending) too.
And that's going to spoil folks enjoyment somewhat. Better to keep which one it is (and which ending) vague so everyone can enjoy I think.

i could've sworn i saw or heard something official about both V's existing in the same timeline, i could be wrong though.

but i'm pretty sure there is no canon V, nor is there a canon ending.... yet.

Far as I know, that was said back in 2018.
They also changed stuff like V's birthday and birth year, and separated them.
Back then, V was born on 10th December 2054. So was only 22
Both, or ether V that is.
Now, only male V was born on the 10th. And fem V is born on a different day.

(Think they wanted to age them up a little, and separate them out. Which is kinda sad, because 22 is usually the right age for rollin a cyberpunk on the tabletop. Young enough to be fast, but old enough to have a couple years backstory on the lifepath table lol.)

Myself, I'm sticking with that. My main V (V's, actually lol) are twins born n the 10th December 2054 and are both 22 since that's what I rolled when I played along via the tabletop (before getting gifted the digital game)
Rolled a fem V up, got 'grew up in a once upscale, now decaying neighbourhood' and 'twin-male'. Then, when I rolled her brother, it rolled 'roaming the roads with their nomad pack family'
Lol.
That took some wriggling, but I managed.
So my main FemV's background is she doesn't know she has a twin brother who was klept from the hospital, who ended up a nomad. TV soap opera style strikes again lol.

What exactly would be the difference?

They always choose the female as canon, despite gamers being overwhelmingly male, and choosing males as their characters when given the option.

The stats always go against the so called "canon". Just like with Mass Effect. 70% chose manshep, yet they made "canon" Shep female.

I wonder what the stats are for Cyberpunk. Anyone know?
Wait female shep is the canon and not male shep

There is no cannon until such time that CDPR creates a cannon storyline. Or even mentions a cannon gender.

As that hasn't happened yet, then there is no cannon V.

edit:
Not that I care, mind you.
