Default V was better
Do you guys preferred the character creation or wouldve just preferred a better written preset character that was the Default male V in the trailers.

Because no matter how much I customise, it just doesnt feel like Im playing as myself like in RPG games, it still feels like Im playing a character V, and the lack of character depth makes it even worse. The Voice acting is very specific, the tone, style, it doesnt change when you try to roleplay either like yourself or maybe a saint or a devil, or just an *hole.

The interactions with romanceable NPC's are fixed. For ex, playing as Male V and interested in women, the dialogues and questlines when interacting with Ward was just so weird, it was obviously written only for romanceable option. I had to pick the jerk dialogue options all the time in order not to be weirded out, which didnt work.

I think the narrative wouldve been a lot better if they just had V as a fixed preset character like Geralt or Jensen, or put the effort of multiple VA styles for better narrative immersion which im sure too much time work money and hassle.

Im doing my second playthough as the default trailer V and it feels so much better, shouldve done that in the first place. Maybe when they do an expansion, do it as a fresh preset character, that would be really great, that would leave the uncertain canon ending for the next game, whenever that would be, lol

Note: all the (dead game, bugs, crash, cops AI sucks, missing features, i was scammed and lied to) stay away

I think sticking with a written character would have been better. Nothing against character creation, but if they didn't spend their time on that then maybe the game would have been more "complete" at launch.

Well that statement's gonna scare off about 90% of the activity on this forum.

Its more like a wrong choice, not an incomplete or bad work.

Practically nobody has put so much effort on different VAs. Its either a single character fully voiced or a male and female version fully voiced. To save the effort they do a monotonous VA that works with all roleplay styles. When they have multiple VA tones and styles, its normally partially voiced like in cRPGs.

If they went monotonous with V, it wouldve lost it's flare that V has. And even with arab money, they cant fully voice many styles and tones, that alone would make the game 50gb more.

So yeah the preset trailer V wouldve been so much better.

Oh right, on topic...

I'm not big on the whole romance thing but what i'd really like is making more friendships.

But yeah, role playing in the doesn't seem to have a whole lot of options.

Some of the 'in depth' conversations i've had with core characters kind of left me scratching my head like, what was that all about?

TLDR i think that is the point of character creation you can make your character or play the defalut one, I personaly like to make my own characters, its in real life where I cant feel like I am playing myself ;p In some games I can replay because I see oportunities to make new characters and role play them, to me thats what role playing games are about <3

Like say in the witcher you play as a callous bully philosopher trying to make sense of this world while still going to work everyday killing everyone society pays him to, and I like to try and fit into that role but most of all I like making my own chars.

That was my problem with Ward, that whole quest was a bit uncomfortable.

I use the 4k complexion and preset for male V from Nexus that does a pretty good job at recreating default male V from the trailer. I don't really care about customization in a game where you don't ever see your character 99% of the time but some people might.

One of the things I've said so many times is how badly I wanted to play as E3 V. I personally do not "create myself" in games, I like to play as someone I am not. I was intrigued by the amazing cinematic with that V and Jackie and drawn to the character.

I was so surprised when the E3 V was not there! (Now, I know that one of the options looks "kinda" like him, but really, no.) I can't think of any other game where there is a cinematic version of the main character, but then we do not get the option to play as them.

I used mods to get my V to look as close to him as possible and he looked pretty darn good but he definitely wasn't that V. I personally prefer when there is a default character, sort of like Mass Effect. But, I completely understand that other people like to fully customize theirs!

I did play as the default male Shepherd from the trailers in all 3 games all those years ago.

That cutscene shouldve been in the game, but I have it memorised and can correlate that in my head as if it happened in game. We had to do that all the time 2 decades ago when ingame visuals were incomparable to the cinematics.

Folks have mentioned 3rd person.

Not really on topic but while we're talking about head scratchers...

I like this game a fair amount and I'm cool with playing whatever view a given game supports but, another head scratcher is why you have metric craptons of gear in the game but can't see yourself running around the city in it.
